I think this belongs here, and not in the "Ordering and Installation" forum...

I have a package I'm still grandfathered on that is no longer offered. I was thinking of getting Showtime for a couple of months. Can I order it, pay the $12/month, and then drop it a few months down the road? I am worried they will say this alters my programming and forces me to pick a new package... or that it screws up the grandfathering in, etc.

Bottom line: could I order Showtime, cancel it in 3 months, and end up exactly where I am now in terms of package and cost?

I trust you guys more than what some CSR will tell me over the phone if I call D* up.

You can do this, no problem. I have done this many times with my grandfathered Total Choice package.

I've done this to with no problem. I have a a grandfathered package and have added and deleted premiums with no problem. It won't change the package your in to add or delete a premium channel.

Call and ask if you can have a free trial of Showtime for 3 or even 6 months.

Bet they say yes.

I've never missed an episode of Weeds since it first started and never paid for Showtime.

I'm grandfathered with TC+, I just tried to drop HBO on the website and was told I need to change to a current package before I can do this.

Is this how D** is going to finally get everyone off of old gf'd packages???

I have found it is best to call if you have a grandfathered package.

You hve to call the CSR to order Showtime, you can't do it online without updating your package.

p.s. if you drop it in the first 30 days you incur $10 premium service disconnect fee, just so you know

I've had HBO for years so it won't cost me the $10 to drop it.
So, you think if I call the CSR they won't make me switch off the TC+ package even if the website says I have to? I'm afraid this is something new they are requiring.......... but, I'll call and let everyone know.
