I have access to the 119 bird only. When I upgraded to the 721 from the Dishplayer I went from a 7 day epg to the 2 day epg. Now, after the sw upgrade to 1.07 I only get a 36 hour guide!!!
Advanced Tech support said "Geeh, I don't know. Maybe take out and reinsert the card." Which I did with no success. The tech rep said he even spoke with his supervisor???
Does anybody have any ideas on a solution?
TIA
Jim
The only solution is to move the 9 Day Guide from 110 to 119. Otherwise, you'll still get the 2 Day Guide. Dish recently moved 3 channels from 119 to 110 and I was hoping that one of the things they were going to fix was to put the 9 Day guide on 119. Does it really consume the bandwidth of more than one channel? I don't think so!!!!

I do not understand why Dish does not put the EPG on all it's sats. Minimal bandwidth for a bunch of mostly static text so I do not see what the big deal is. We miss some way cool features by not having the EPG, like all of the search capabilities.

What I cannot understand is "If Dish can upload the 7 day epg on 119 for the Dishplayer, why can't they upload the 7 day epg on 119 for the "Premier" 721?" I don't get it! (Literally!)

If you can afford the 721 why can't you put up a 110 dish instead of complaining about the system?

They want to force people into getting a dish 500 system and want to make money off of it. Its one way of them accomplishing this.

Boba, while I would love to put up a second dish and point to 110 that is not feasible for me, and I suspect most of the folks who are on 119 only. You see, the problem is, we can not see 110. 119 is right on the horizon for me, living in Juneau Alaska. If you have a 3 meter dish and a perfectly clear view of the southern horizon you can see just enough 110 to get a marginal signal. So, while I would love to get 110, it is not worth living down in the lower 48.

boba...
I know you are a guest...but,
Why are you so arrogant?
You don't have a clue.
THIS (http://www.dishdepot.com/Cart/description.php?II=492542&UID=200212162033365.113.111.43) is what we have to purchase to receive 110 in the Virgin Islands.
And then there is the apx $200 instalation fee and (for me ) 120' of RG6 at ( ? ) per foot.
And now I have to find a place in my yard for this 2nd 6' antenna.
OK...For $400 for the antenna + $40 for the LNB + $135 for the shipping + $200 for the installation + (lets say 25¢) a foot for 120' of RG6 is $30.
That eguals to $805.00 just to TRY to receive 110.
And this fact remains the same.
All information that is needed for the 721 (EPG, software, etc.) is spooled from tp29 and we cannot get a lock on it.
So now boba....
Ask me again why I am complaining about 'the system'?
JimW purchased this system knowing that it was an E* product and assuming that it would work with his E* antenna.
Shame on you Mr. Ergan..........
.........this really SUCKS!!!!!!! :flaiming

Being able to afford the dish 500 or a second dish and if you can afford it is besides the point. The point is ''Why does Dish not put the EPG on ALL slots, or at least on 119?''
While I am sure that in most circumstances that people can afford to buy a dish 500 or second dish, one should not have to. That reminds me of when Charlie said ''If people can afford an HD tv and the HD receiver (6000) then they can afford to buy the 61.5 dish'' only they have a good reason for putting it on 61.5 in that case, because of bandwidth.
In this case bandwidth is not an excuse. It also reminds me of when they moved the Retailer Charlie Chat from 119 slot to 110 and I had to buy a dish 500 upgrade kit, cost me $80, when all systems did not include a dish 500.
Do you think its fair for some to have to pay for a full program guide?
