My install went smoothly yesterday, considering it was 40 feet up on the roof gable, but they left in a hurray before checking all the signals on all the sats on both new boxes.
Now, I am wondering because:
1) New HR20 has 0s in the 103(a) signal. 1-8 is 89/0/91/0/96/0 and 17-24 is 0.
103(b) is is all high 90s. 99(b) 1-8 is 0/0/0/83/0/86. I have had no issues viewing content with this box.
2) New H20 in bedroom first pixelated and "melted" constantly. Then after reset it said the multiswitch was not hooked up right after acquiring the guide. Then another reset it worked, but these are signals: 103(a) 1-8 is 0/0/0/0/0/0/0 and 17-24 is 0. 103(b) is 60/0/62/0/55/0. 99(b) is all 0s. I still get a few 771 and "melting pics" with this box.
Signal strength for HR20 is: 101/95%, 110/71%, 119/89%, 99(b)/0%, 103(a)/0-90-50%, 103(b)/91%.
Signal strength for H20 is: 101/95%, 110/49-95-40%, 119/75%, 99(b)/0%, 103(a)/0%, 103(b)/58-0-56%.
The old HR10-250 upstairs works fine still.
Are they supposed to run 4 new coax from the dish to the ground block? They didn't yesterday in my case. They used female connectors to join to the existing 8 foot cables that ran to the ground block. It is 2 yrs old and I'm guessing it's copper-coated steel -- the D* default coax at that time. I asked if that would affect signal strength and they said "no." All in-house cable is less than 2 yrs old and is solid copper core. BBCs are tightly connected, as are multiswitch and grounding block connections.
Does this sound like a dish alignment issue, bad mating with the female connectors as described above, bad multiswitch or ???? They also never got me to sign a work order completion... they were in a hurry to leave... so I have a very good reason to get them back.
But, I'd like some ammo first. :)
