View Full Version : Will Installers Just Agree to Leave/Deliver Equipment?

Is it possible to convince installers (MASTEC) to just leave receivers and dish with me, in the event that they refuse to install where I request? In this scenario, I would then hire an independent company to install according to my specification (new slimline mounted to a brick chimney).
I can just go through the independent company altogether; the only hitch is that the prices for equipment are significantly higher than D******.
Further, in the event that I opt not to pay an independent company to install per my HOA's requirements, will I have difficulty cancelling my order entirely and getting D****** to refund my money?
Thanks in advance.

Not sure how Mastec is setup, but for me, if that receiver is not activated, I can't close the job. If I can't close the job, I don't get paid. So, no equipment for you!
If you cancel the install before any work is done, you should get everything back.
Since the dish location is the issue, you might buy the 5 lnb dish and then hire the independent company to install it. Then order the receivers through D* and the D* installer will bring them out to you. You might even be able to convince D* to reimburse (via credits on bill) you for the dish cost (and even perhaps installation). You'll have a better chance at the reimbursement if you have D*'s installer come out and refuse the install. Be sure to tell the D* rep to note on the install work order that due to your HOA regs you need it mounted to the chimney. (You might get lucky and get a good D* installer who is willing to do it since it's on the work order).
Good luck.

just call it in and activate it, then when the cust has it installed, they just call 800directv and at the prompt say 711, and it will resend the auth.
you can then close out the w/o with no probs, just dont mention cust self install till later at night when u call in to make shure its close, and just add the notes to siebel so u dont get dinged for a sc.
