Same here - HR20-100. This is the first of the new channels I've gotten 771 on.

Can anyone confirm what TP CNBCHD is on?

I did some troubleshooting at lunch, and found that I can get the signal fine on tuner 1, but get 0 on tuner 2 (CNBCHD is on TP 22). this wasn't the case in the morning, so it half-fixed itself.

What's weird is that on the low 103b TPs (1-3), I get a lot higher signal on tuner 2 vs. tuner 1, but here on the other end of the TP range, I get a good signal on tuner 1 and zip on tuner 2. I may have a bad LNB, bad LNB switch, or bad HR20-100.

My only advice would be to check your signal strength on transponder 22 for each tuner.

Also, it certainly couldn't hurt to refresh your services. I know, "721" is the channel not purchased error, "771" is the satellite signal error. Still, as I said it couldn't hurt. That way if you end up calling a CSR you can say you did it.

Edit: the info I had here about the problem fixing itself was incorrect. I still only get a signal on tuner 1 and nothing on tuner 2 for TP22, which corresponds to how I receive CNBC-HD.

I think you may be on to something that we are all in So Cal

I am still getting the 771 msg on the CNBC HD ch

I checked my transponders on 103b, all look fine 80's and up
but tp #22 has a 0

also on sat 103a tp #3 and 17 are also 0

is any one else out there getting 0's on sat 103b tp's 22 or sat 103a 3 and 17
and if so do you see 771 or can you watch CNBC HD

do we know for sure what TP CNBC is on ?

I am in Corona, CA and I can definitely say there is a problem with CNBCHD. I can also say with 99% certainty that this channel is coming from Transponder 22. Right now I am watching the signals for that transponder go from 0 to 30 to 35 to 37 and to 0 at varying rates.

In the other room the TV is tuned to CNBCHD and the screen is saying
Searching For Signal 771 when TP22 hits 0 and the picture will come back any time the signal jumps back up to 32 or higher.

Every other channel from the new HD's has worked since the channels started launching from D10. I also know that less than 2 weeks ago I used to get a signal in the high 70's for TP22.

Every other Transponder on 103b has a signal from the high 60's to the low 80's with the Odd's usually being 5-7 points higher then the Even's.

Is TP22 supposed to be a spot beam or something? And if it is then why would DTV place CNBCHD on a spot beam?

If TP22 is a full national beam then what problems are causing people in SoCal not to get the feed from this particular Transponder?

I called DirecTV and of course the CSR's are clueless...Everyone that is having problems here should definitely call DTV and complain about this so that they believe that it is a big enough problem to deal with.

It is amazing how much DTV does not tell their CSR's. I can't believe that they can't provide the CSR's with lists of what Transponders the channels are coming from, among other things!

I first called Directv Wednesday night about this problem. CNBCHD screen said 771..searching for signal I called twice Wednesday night.First Directv tech told me on the phone he had no reported problems about this channel not working and he started to make a tech appointment for me.I declined,
Later on that night I called DTV again and spoke to a different tech..she put me on hold and talked to her supervisor. Her supervisor informed her there is a problem with CNBCHD and they are working on it and to be patient.

I phoned Thursday and spoke to another DTV tech for an update about this channel problem-she knew nothing about it and had no reports about it having problem's.There were notes about my phones calls the previous night(by the way,if you make a call to DTV tech department all they do in regards to notes is write down that the tech talked to you and talked to their supervisor-but they won't take notes about what was said ). This can be very frustrating for the customer ..especially if you were told by a tech the previous day that there was a problem DTV was working on.
I called later Thursday again and spoke to another tech at DTV who knew nothing about this problem and I have a trouble call appointment coming sometime this week.
I'm calling DTV tonight and telling them what all of you wrote..hopefully they'll listen and know its a problem in many places.
Thankyou for not making me think I was imagining this., You guys call too..PLEASE !

I just spoke to a Directv tech named Thomas from Alabama and gave him the web page of our forum topic...he is e-mailing it to his supervisor and e-mailing it to CNBCHD...he's saying it's a possible known issue..
He was very nice and really cares about the problem. He said it could take a day or so to clear this up. He said usually when its one channel that says 771 searching for signal..thats a problem with the network that's sending the signal.
And to the person who said they are having a problem with some different channels' in Florida..thats a totally different issue. The Directv tech told me they know about your issue in Florida and are working on it..same in washing state or washington DC.

The 771 problem is much different...

I'm getting 771 errors on many of the new HD channels including History HD, National Geographic HD, Discovery HD, Science HD and probably several others. I first noticed this last night; it wasn't a problem on Thursday.

The tech I spoke with this afternoon was not aware of any problems. He said it was satellites 99 - 103 (I think) that carried the stations I'm not able to receive.

This is beginning to sound more like a DirecTV problem than a simple hardware matter but I have an appointment scheduled for Wednesday. Hopefully it's fixed before I have to meet a tech.

It's crazy how DTV is trying to make it seem like WE are the one's who have something wrong at our homes..when its their problem.. they should contact the channel thats broadcasting-CNBCHD and fix the problem ! And if its one of Directv's satelites in the sky..they should fix the cordinances of that satelite to broadcast correctly !

I agree with you rickbbb. There are too many of us having the same exact problem with only this channel. Also, I just had a tech out here a few weeks back that checked everything and made sure my system worked perfectly.

I have had no problems at all with any other channels.

rickbbb what is your signal strengths on 103b transponder 22 for all of your receivers? I am trying to pinpoint if this is the transponder that CNBC-HD is broadcast on...and this is the only transponder for me that is doing weird things.

The issue is the multi-switch and needs to be switched out with a "wide-band multi-switch" and that will help it come in. So keep the service call cuz its the right thing to do. So its not really a issue in S. CA!
The 721 on new hd channels is because customers still have the old hd access package that only had the the mpeg2 hd channels that prodcasted before the new hd channels so dtv just has to remove the old package and re-add on the hd access and it will recognize the new hd channels that were recently broadcasted.
Its not really a issue in FL!
New Technology always has its ups and downs!
People in AL at dtv usually know there stuff

I attempted to get some sort of resolution from a representative at D* however was unsuccessful. I explained the issue, and the rep claimed that they have not even launched this channel yet and wanted to schedule a service call. The rep was so insistant about the fact CNBCHD has not launched yet, I just hang up.
Since others are having this issue, I think a service call may be a waste of time. Also the fact that HD receivers only with the manufacturer #100 are the problem and the other receivers I have are receiving the channel fine, I have my doubts there is a problem with my dish setup. I'm going to keep trying to get through to some D* rep that is not ignorant.

I'm not sure how to find the signal strength for that particular satelite. All I know is I have the NEWEST Equipment and just had my first Directv installation barely 2 weeks ago. There is NO EXCUSE why this channel should not be coming out when all the other new HD channel's are working !

Is Directv so BIG a company that they can't even figure out what the problem is ??
One poster here said that a DTV tech did'nt even know CNBCHD was launched yet. That's insane !

I don't want to WASTE my time having some tech come to my place to try to find out if the problem is from my home and not from their company. Apparently it's easier for DTV to do it this way and waste all our time.
Also, from the way they've talked to me in the past week on the phone..they made me feel like I was the only customer having this problem..when some of you have already phoned them..yet they have no record of those phone call complaints.

CALL THEM AGAIN and make sure you get the employee's ID number of who you talked to..that way it's a documented phone call.Because DTV does not take notes about what was said in a conversation..they only take notes that are like "customer called and I referred it to my supervisor"...they will not go into what the call was about. Unless you insist they write it down.

I made another call to D* this morning and spoke with a tech support rep. Of course I had to explain the enitire situation and interestingly they have no open issues for CNBC-HD. She did say she would escalate the issue after I explained that others in the greater LA area are experiencing this problem. She did mention it's not likely there is a problem at my location with the dish as other receivers (Hr20-700 and H20-600) are receiving the channel fine. Those receivers are getting a reading in the 60's for transponder 22. The "-100" models are getting '0' for transponder 22. I could not confirm with the rep if this was related or not. She also mentioned there is another HD launch this week so that could help resolve the issue. Someone is supposed to call me back within a few days with a status( I won't hold my breath). Hopefully this is progress with D*.. if any. I did get the name, location and ID number of the rep for reference.

rickbbb,

You are correct...All of the newest channels have been added and working great. The only problem is still that darn CNBC-HD which gives an intermittent 771 error message on my H20-100.

Yesterday from about 2pm until I went to bed CNBC-HD worked fine and again this morning it is off again with the 771 message.

It will probably go in and out a few times today like every other day, but there is definitely a problem here and I think it is the signal coming from transponder 22.

How can this TP flucuate between 0 and 60 while all my others are strong and above 80 at all times? <--On my H20-100

My HR20-700 has signals above 80 for all transponders except for 22 as well. TP22 has been a consistent 41 on both tuners never going to 0 and CNBC-HD has been working consistently. The only time I had a problem with this box was on day 1 of CNBCHD launch when the channel had major pixilation and went black a few times.

What would cause the disparity between the signal readings for TP22 between an H20-100 (TP22=60 when working) and an HR20-700 (TP22=41 for both tuners)? All the other transponders match exactly on both boxes? I think this is very strange...

I have two locations with slimline 5LNB, work and home. I live in Southern California (Orange County). At work, TP22 is 0, at home TP22 is 80. HR20-100 both locations. Work has no multiswitch, home has new 6x8 multiswitch. Seems three possible problems:

1. Dish at home is more precisly pointed. I don't think this is the problem because all of the other transponders are high and roughtly the same between work and home.

2. Multiswitch is helping to pick up TP22. Maybe the switch sends some signal to the dish that the HR20-100 doesn't. Anybody that is not getting TP22, are you sans multiswitch, while the people getting TP22 using multiswitch?

3. Defective LNB. Maybe there are a batch of slimline LNB's that are not compatible with TP22.

Today, another batch of channels came online, including Fox BusinessHD. I can receive every new HD channel. The only channel I can't receive is CNBCHD. I would rather watch Fox BusHD, but my concern is will TP22 carry something in the future that I do want to watch.

Just thought I would throw my observations into the mix.

I have had the channel several mornings and did not have it most of the time on both my HR20-700 and H20-100. A couple of times it was picked up on the DVR only.

This sounds like some type of transmitting error to the so cal area rather than an equipment problem for the individual users. Plus, if the equipment needed a different configuration or if the LNB was bad I would think we would never get anything on the channel. When I received the picture it looked fine. I don't watch CNCBC that much but the problem concerns me since I expect the same transmission method will occur again with other channels in the future.

Does CNBC-HD work at your home where the TP22 is at 80? And does TP22 stay at 80 consistently, or does it ever drop to 0 at times?

I've only checked the home connection randomly a dozen times or so, but every time, it is always around 70- 80. One time I tuned to CNBCHD, it said 771, I checked the transponder, it said 80, when I went back, CNBCHD was working fine. I'll attempt to regulary check home TP22 and report back if it drops to 0.

At work, which I am able to check on a more regular basis, it NEVER has had a signal.

Right now I am work looking at 103(b) info: TP22 = 0. Using slingbox, I am also looking at my home signal strength, TP22 = 72. It is not an issue of spot beam on/off.

I definitely remember a time a few weeks ago when Transponder 22 was just as high as all my other TP's for 103b. I did have another problem with my service that was fixed a few weeks ago too. They fixed a couple of wiring issues which turned out to be my problem, but in the process they switched out my LNB as well but that wasn't the problem...

I wonder if they switched out my LNB and gave me one that is defective? If that is the case though there must be a ton of defective LNB's in the SoCal area and that does not make sense.

Maybe the receivers I have H20-100 and HR20-700 have some sort of conflict with each other? I am not sure if that is even possible but who knows? They are both hooked up to the dish with no Multi-Switch though...Then again maybe they are defective. But that doesn't make sense because we all can't have defective equipment.

The most likely culprit is some sort of beam or broadcasting issue that is particular to the SoCal area...

Could this type of issue be caused by a dish not being properly grounded, because I don't know much about that and I am wondering if my dish is grounded properly. I know that weird voltages can cause weird problems. Maybe we all share a crappy installer in common!

I'm in the Washington DC area and since the new channels have come on line my HD reception has varied a lot. Depending on the day or time of day I check I get some of the new HD channels in solidly and some that are 771.

Is the problem mine? I just got the 5LNB dish and an HR20 HD DVR a few weeks before they started turning this stuff on. I see signal strengths like:
101 - 96% both tuners
110 - 96% both tuners
119 - 97% both tuners
99b - 85% both tuners (slow to determine signal strength)
103(a) - 88% both tuners (slow to determine signal strength)
103(b) - 70% both tuners

When I spoke to DirecTV a week or so ago they told me they were having problems in the northeast with some of the new channels and that it was a satellite broadcasting issue and that it would take a few more days to resolve. Last night I counted 15 of the new HD channels that I should be getting that I was barely getting or getting 771 the whole time.

I redid the satellite setup to see if I would have better luck although I suspect the low signal strength on 103(b) in particular is what is causing my issues with the new HD channels (I have no problem with the SD channels or the old HD channels in the 70s). Still problems with many channels - but not CNBC HD (355) ironically.

As of this morning CNBC-HD is back to message 771 again...I called DirecTV again to complain and the CSR's do not have any records of this being a widespread problem in the SoCal area.

All other channels work perfectly still and all transponders from all satellites are very strong except for TP22 on 103b.

I know of at least 5-7 people from this thread who have called DirecTV with the same problem. At this point it seems to me that either their customer service systems are "extremely" inneficient or they are covering up for something deliberately.

They have a tech coming out to my house on Thursday, but I don't have much faith in the fact that this person will be able to fix anything. The last guy didn't even know that D10 had been launched and was even surprised to see that 103a had signals coming from it. I had to inform him that 103a is where people in SoCal get their HD locals from! Of course he did not believe me anyway...He also seemed to be very lazy and not want to check wires in my attic when he couldn't solve my old problem I had in other ways.

I agree. I made a follow up call yesterday late afternoon for a status update from Directv tech support and even after those on this forum who have called to complain, Directv does not have any pending issues regarding this matter. The rep I spoke with seems to have documented the calls I've made on my account but they have no information that there is even a problem or have record of other customers calling. The only thing this rep yesterday could offer me is that someone is supposed to call me back regarding this matter within 72 hours from my original call on Sunday. This rep yesterday did also say before sending a tech out, we need to wait the 72 hours for it to be looked into because a tech call may not resolve the issue. We will see if someone from D* actually calls back. My confidence in that is very low.

I have sent DirecTV this email

Since the launch of CNBC hd last week I have been getting a 771 msg on that ch. I am getting all the other new HD ch's just fine. I have tried a system reset a few times and still get the same msg. it looks like I am not the only one see link http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=104078&highlight=HD+771%3F

DirecTV reply

Thanks for writing and for taking the time to inform us about your DIRECTV HD programming concern. I see that you have been with us since February 1997; I want to let you know that we appreciate your business. I know that HD programming is important to you and DIRECTV is committed to offering the best possible HD experience to you.

There are a number of things which could be causing the “Searching for Satellite Signal” message that you are receiving. The most common is if something is interfering with your receiver’s ability to receive the signal for the new channel. Common causes of this error include:

- interference between your dish and our satellite (e.g. trees, buildings or dish out of alignment)
- problems with the cabling (loose connections or bad cables), multi-switch or diplexer

Since the problem could be caused by so many different things, it’s difficult and time consuming to troubleshoot via email. You might find some “fix-it-yourself” tips in our online forum at forums.directv.com. Otherwise, I suggest that you call our technical support center at 1-800-531-5000 (please select the option for technical assistance). Our technical support representatives are trained to troubleshoot these types of issues much quicker than we can via email.

I apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your patience while we work to fix the problem as quickly as possible. Thanks again for writing and stay tuned to directv.com for the latest news and information about our services.

Sincerely,

Thanks for the update RaMMaN...

Sounds like some more of the run-a-round we are all getting. I think whatever threshhold that DirecTV must have for a problem to really be a problem has not been met yet.

All we can do is keep on complaining and eventually their systems will register this as a real problem...Until then they won't give us anything but generic e-mails and phone replies...

I Blocked out the pin # till after I use it tonight LOL

Thank you for writing back. I am sorry to hear about the message that you see on channel CNBC HD.

If this channel or any other seem to be affected by the new signals your system receives, we would be glad to troubleshoot this problem to find the best way to fix it for you.

Though it's difficult to troubleshoot most technical issues by email, we've found resetting your system often corrects what's wrong. If resetting your receiver doesn't help, please call our technical support center at (800) 695-9251 and enter the PIN number **** (PIN is valid for 5 days) and a specialist will be available to help by walking you through a number of troubleshooting steps which are too difficult to try to talk through over email.

We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your patience while we work to fix the problem as quickly as possible.
Thanks again for writing and I thank you very much for your patience and understanding.

On Directv's website there is a link that says Programming Partners.
I pressed on that and there were phone numbers for each channel that is on Directv-incuding CNBC.

I called CNBC and asked for CNBCHD..and got a voicemail of some guy named Nick I think. I told him in detail about OUR problem.CNBC's toll free number is 1-800-788-2622

UPDATE: The guy from CNBCHD just called me at work.He is very supportive and is the head of operations at CNBC.I think his name is Nick.
Nick said it has nothing to do with the way CNBC is transmitting the station.CNBCHD is based from a cable company and then DTV transmitts it from Arizona or some place to all of us.Nick contacted his Los Angeles affiliate in regards to our problem with CNBCHD..his affiliate in broadcasting said the channel works....but in regards to what Directv is doing with this channel to the Los Angeles customers...it's Directv who needs to make sure we get that channel..not CNBC's responsibility in this case-thats what I'm saying..Rickbbb is saying.
Directv is giving us all the runaround.
Nick said he wants me to stay in touch with him if this situation does not get resolved.
He's in a 201 area code.wherever that is..where his office is.

Another Update: I spoke with a Directv technical supervisor named Mary today on 10-16-07 who is in their Oregon headquarter's..she said she would escalate this and have it as a documented escalated issue and send the problem to someone above her..she also said that it was also listed as an escalated issue some days ago..but it was never followed up on. Also, she mentioned that she wrote in detail about the CNBCHD problem I'm having.. ALWAYS ask for a Supervisor....that's VERY important to do !

More good news...

Remember that my HR20-700 had signals of 37 on both tuners for TP22 but CNBCHD worked. And that my H20-100 had either 0 or 55 on TP22 with CNBCHD going in and out. I couldn't understand why there was a difference between receivers.

Now both receivers have the the same signal strength at 68-69 and the channels are working on both...Something has definitely changed for the better but they still need to increase the power to get thos signals up just a bit...

While I like to chuck the D* CSRs under the bus as much as the next guy, I got to pull the emergency brake this time.

The CSRs are just cubical monkeys. They are pretty much forced to read from a script and are given very little leaway as far as thinking for themselves.

It most likely takes some time (days) for any issue to work its way up the chain, get noticed, then, valid info to trickle back down to the CSRs. However, by that time the issue is probably already resolved.

Hopefully they still are working on increasing the signal strength for Transponder 22 on 103b. TP22 did go up and even out between boxes, but 67 is well below the 80+ I have for all other Transponders. Maybe in another week or so I will wake up one day and TP22 will magically be inline with the rest of my Transponders!

At least the CNBC HD channel works like it should now...I hope it stays that way when I wake up in the morning.

What is everyone getting for their readings on 103b Transponder 22? We should keep an eye on this because even though they have stabalized the signal, it is still much weaker than all other transponders in our area.

Last night I was getting 67 and this morning I am getting 63.

All other Transponders on 103b are above 78 with most above 81.

It seems to me that whatever was going on with this transponder is not fixed all the way and we need to stay on top of D* until it is completely fixed.

According an unofficial transponder list that is posted in another thread, CNBC-HD is the only channel currently coming from TP22. Most others have 4-6 channels coming from them. This means that some future channels will be getting added to TP22 and we need to make sure it is fully working for everyone in SoCal.

Are those 68-69 readings significantly lower than all other Transponders from 103b? Ore are your other transponders in the high 60's and low 70's?

TP22 back to 0 on my H20-100 and TP22 back to 38-39 on my HR20-700. The "Bug" is back!

Yesterday was a little too good to be true...I still have my tech appointment scheduled for tomorrow, I will let you all know what I find out. Although this Tech will probably have no idea what is going on and have no idea how to fix it!

My bet is that he:

1. changes a few connectors in my wiring (won't work)
2. switches out my LNB (might work but I doubt it)
3. then recommends that my boxes are both bad (won't work)
4. Maybe its an improper grounding issue, but I am not knowledgeable in that area. I will be after tomorrow though...

I Spoke To A Tech Supervisor named BRIAN this morning-Thursday October 18th- Employee# 251818 -Pacific time.....I told him about our situation/problem with CNBCHD . I also told him that I had spoken to a tech supervisor named Mary 2 days ago there who told me she would talk to the person who is in charge of fixing the outage problem with CNBCHD..that same day CNBCHD went on for all of us !!! Then it went Off the next day.Brian said he would forward the problem to the person in that division above him and Mary ..like Mary did the other day. That person who is above them in another division is not in yet,but will be in today and he has the link to this web page of Dbstalk.com and of this specific forum. He is the one who can make this channel turn ON again-like he did the other day !!!And hopefully STAY on ! I told Brian that it was a problem with transponder 22-he was aware of that from the notes on my account.

So hopefully this will be taken care of again soon !
Brian agreed with me that a service call is not the answer to resolve this problem..since Directv was able to turn that channel on the other day for all of us !!! Then yesterday they turned it off. transponder 22 is the problem..which is something Directv can fix from where THEY are ! And did fix from where They are..the other day..and unfixed it a day later.

Also Brian said I and anyone who calls about this problem with CNBCHD should only talk to a tech supervisor about this because they have access to a totally different computer screen than the CSR's.

Just had a Tech out to my house and he checked everything with my system and said it was working perfectly. He switched out the LNB, checked out the wiring, tested a different box and all the same problems still happened with Transponder 22 on 103b.

Is CNBCHD on yet?

1. This morning the signal was jumpy going in-and-out

2. Early afternoon the 771 message was showing again

3. This afternoon the channel is up again but the signals on TP22 are still very low

What all of this means:

The same schedule of in-and-out will probably happen tomorrow again...We are not out of the woods here yet. Either something is wrong with the beam coming from D10 to this SoCal area or there is some type of interference coming from the SoCal area that is causing widespread problems with TP22.

Either one sucks for us!

If it is a DirecTV problem then they won't acknowledge the problem until after they fix it...and who knows where they are at because they aren't telling.

If it is interference coming from some other SoCal source then who knows how that type of problem is fixed? Maybe its Aliens...hahaha!

Well, I've read through this whole thread and decided to ring in because my experience with transponder 22 has been a little different. I have a HR20-100b and am in Culver City, 90232.

For me, tuner 1 locks on 22 most of the time at 80+. This is one of my strongest signals on 103b. Transponder 22 initially was the same on tuner 2, until CNBC was put there. Then I started having problems where it just never locked and finally read 0. Sometimes it locked up much later than tuner 1, but it did lock. On occasion, tuner 1 doesn't lock either, but that's relatively rare. I have noticed that it take longer for 22 to acquire than the other transponders on both tuners, even when it's working consistently. During a fairly heavy rain storm last Friday, my signal levels dropped significantly on all 103b transponders. 22 got into the mid 50's, but suddenly tuner 2 was consistently able to lock on 22. Once the storm cleared out and signal levels returned to normal (to the low 80's) tuner 2 was once again unable to lock transponder 22. VERY WEIRD!!!

If it wasn't for all you guys, I was certain that I had a bad tuner, since doing cable/bbc swapping never changed the way the tuners responded. So I hope that this can be rectified at some point and I am curious about what finally is determined to be the problem.

I consistently get the channel on my HR20-700 also...My only concern for that box is still Transponder 22 on 103b being so low compared to the others. The HR20-700 must have a better threshold for holding a lower signal than the H20-100. Or whatever glitch that is going on is just worse on the H20-100 hardware/software.

the pattern on my H20-100 for TP22 on 103b has been in-and-out in the morning, 771 in the afternoon, and working sometimes in the evenings.

rickbbb,

What are your 103b signals out of curiosity? On your remote do this to check:

1. Push "Menu"
2. Push "Select" on Settings
3. Push "Select" on Setup
4. Push "Select" on Sat & Ant
5. Push "Select" on View Signal Strength
6. Push "Select" on the "-" Minus Sign and that should get you to Satellite 103(b)

Then post all your numbers...Right now on my H20-100 mine are:

1-8: 83 83 78 77 81 80 77 77
9-16: 83 80 77 76 84 81 n/a n/a
17-24: 85 n/a n/a n/a n/a 57 n/a n/a

So,um..I don't think I'll be getting the H20-600 you suggested.Thanks but no thanks !

UPDATE ! I left Nick Makris -head of programming at CNBCHD - a message about the problem with CNBCHD- Today on October 19th.

I also called Directv's technical supervisor TRACY- employee #251017...She told me they are aware of the problem and are working on it.I also told her to let her CSR's know about the problem because most of us have been given the run around by the CSR's for 2 weeks now..CSR's will tell us..What problem, you're the only one reporting this problem.." blah,blah,blah.....the CSR's don't have the information about this problem that the tech supervisor's do..and the CSR's should. I told Tracy, when the CSR's can't find any reports of any problems about this..they make a technical appointment...this is a waste of time for the customer's.
Tracy apologized and told me she will let the CSR's know about the CNBCHD outage and tell the CSR's. Tracy said "we know it's a problem with CNBCHD over at directv ..it's not a problem with the customer's equipment " !
WHAT A HEADACHE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ANOTHER UPDATE: October 19th... I called Directv technical again and asked a regular CSR in technical about an update regarding the CNBCHD outage..she looked up the problem and said "it's a broadcast issue/problem and we are working on it, and be patient".

That's good news, hopefully they will fix it fast. Cause it doesn't look like they made any progress at all in the last two weeks.

Monday October 22nd,2007 !!!!! The outage of CNBCHD for many Los Angeles residents and surrounding residents-including myself- is still OUT. I'm pretty upset about this..and have contacted my friend at CNBCHD-head of communication's and talked to him and the tech supervisor's at Directv.......and they say they are Working on it and that its a broadcasting problem. Well, from what my friend told me at CNBCHD...it's a problem Directv is having with this channel.

I gave DirecTV another call on this matter and they finally are recognizing this issue as a problem. At least this means that they have made an improvement over not knowing anything about it. Now I know that their technical people are working on it and that gives me some confidence that the problem will be fixed eventually.

Hopefully there isn't some huge problem with their systems and it can be fixed fairly easily...

Looks like good progress. It's interesting though that being a broadcast problem it's affecting HR20-100 and H20-100 models only and not the HR20-700 or H20-600. Just curious of DTV has mentioned anything as to why that is? Perhaps it is that the 100 models need a stronger signal? Whatever it is hopefully they will get it resolved quickly.

I feel like I'm being given the runaround by Directv about this problem. It's like the Left hand does'nt know what the right hand is doing.

This one is still an issue and still searching for satellite. I have seen it on a few times but it's only temporary. I have noticed at the times I have checked that TP #22 is at 78 on tuner 1 only and tuner 2 is at 0. It must be time to call again today and see what story they will tell me. I'll try to call later on for a status.

update: As of 9:00 AM both tuners are at 0.

To DirectvHDFan, when was the last time this channel worked for you before this time?

To DirectvHDFan, when was the last time this channel worked for you before this time?

Remember 2 Wednesday's ago when it came on and the signal was solid but low? That was the last time it worked correctly for an extended period of time.

Other than that the channel was in-and-out in the morning, off in the early afternoon, and then back on again later in the day.

Now I am getting a stronger signal at 80 on TP22 and the channel is working...lets hope this is Direct TV's permanent fix!

CNBC HD seems to be coming in on all receivers at this moment. I checked the transponder readings on all of them and are running about 63. A bit low but at least the channel is on .. for the moment.

I watched off and on today and I didn't see any glitches. Is it possible they fixed it (crossing fingers)?

This problem was apparently fixed yesterday, so everyone should be receiving it OK by now.

texasbrit,

Do you have any inside knowledge as to what the source of this problem was? Your post makes it sound like you have some inside info...

Mine works too ! Also,to that person who thought the other guy here had some inside knowledge about this problem with CNBCHD...LOL..it does'nt take a rocket scientist to think of different reason's why the problem happened..it was totally Directv's fault and they messed up with software or something where they are.

DIRECTV had to fix the mess they created !!! And they did...for now .
