Long story short, apparently MSNBC and NBC News (already in HD) will combine operations in a brand new state of the art facility in Manhattan. I imagine they'd go ahead and just do it all in HD. MSNBC starts broadcasting from the new digs on the morning of Oct. 22.

And given that NBC has already announced that all Olympic Coverage will be in HD... that is including the USA/MSNBC/CNBC outlets

I hope MSNBC does go HD in the near future. "Countdown" is the only nightly news I watch, and right now it is just about the only SD content I'm still watching.

I just posted this in another thread.

At this time, it looks like all of the NBC Universal channels that are in HD are on D* right now. You can see the uplink info on their website: https://www.nbcunetworks.com/default.aspx (https://www.nbcunetworks.com/default.aspx) Click on the Technical Specs link.

That doesn't mean they don't have plans. But they are not uplinking anything from MSNBC in HD at this time.

Yeah, but I don't think the MSNBC studio in New Jersey is HD ready. After starting broadcasting from the newly constructed/renovated Manhattan studios on the Oct. 22, I wouldn't be surprised to see MSNBC HD being offered not much longer after that.

I think there are a lot of questions about MSNBC that need answering, not just if they are going to be in HD. In the minds of some people, they have yet to really find a niche to occupy in the increasingly crowded news market.

Actually, I think MSNBC has found itself, and its CNN that is floundering. MSNBC offers right-of-center to center programming with Hardball, Tucker, Scarborough, & Abhrams), and left-of-center programming (Olbermann). The rest of the day its plain news, without a slant or a motive to be the mouthpiece for the current administration.

You are joking, aren't you?
