Can anyone confirm/deny that the sears JVC 721 comes with a DP twin LNBF ? Is the dish it comes with basically a Dish 500 dish also? Thanks in advance. SB

I tried ordering a 721 at 2 local sears stores and was told they couldn't order it :(

Yep it looks like the 721 system from Sears comes with a Dish 500 DP Twin. Cost is $599 after rebate, depending if you wait for Sears' 10% off everything sale, you can get an additional $60 off.

So my latest thoughts are that I could probably get Sears to price match a local distributor -- which sells for $549.
Sears also has a 10% reduction on price matching, so that would be an additional ~$50 off there. In addition to the 10% for price matching, they also offer a $50 sears card (via. mail in rebate) for buying the JVC branded 721.
I also recieved a new Sears card in the mail and it said my next purchase using that card would get an additional %10 off -- so in theory, I could get 549 - 50 (10% match discount) - 50 (10% sears card 1st purchase), or ~$450 (plus a $50 sears gift card via. the rebate deal).
I was thinking that I could use the additional dish which comes with the 721 as my new primary dish (and use its Dish Pro Twin LNBF). I would then buy either a new twin DishPro LNBF or a single DishPro LNBF to replace my existing (non dishPro) twin LNBF on my Dish 500 with.
I would then use my existing Dish 500 to point to 60.5 with and them use new JVC dish 500 to point to the other two locations with.
I would also purchase a DP34 to connect the two dishes and my 721 and 501 with. I think this would allow me to add another (single tuner) receiver down the road, if I wanted to.
I found some good prices on the additional DP LNBs and the DP34, and I could get both for $100 to $130 (total).
My goal in the end would be to have two dishes, dish #1 on 60.5 for additional locals and dish #2 on the main two locations covered by my existing dish 500 -- and all using DishPro technology.
Please point out flaws in my logic or understanding.
Does this sound ok, or am I missing something here?!
Thx,
Scott

Your current Dish500 is already aimed, just replace the Twin with the DP Twin. Point the new dish at 61.5, use a DP single LNBF, not another DP Twin. (I don't actually know if using the DP Twin on each dish won't work, but the diagrams I've seen show a DP Twin on one and a DP single on the other. Plus it's cheaper.)
Since you have some locals on 61.5, Dish is required to provide and install the extra equipment needed at no charge to you. Get your 721 on your account, then request the install. That should include the DP single and DP34.

For new subscribers check out thesatelliteguy.com. They offer new subscribers a great deal:
Dual LNB Dish
Dish PVR 721
Free Install for only $339.95
They won't sell that to current subs though. They sell the receiver as a standalone to current subs for $529 though which is a good deal if you don't need the dish.

Thanks for all the good advice!
So if I have both the 721 and 501 on my bill and have 1 tuner hooked up to each (using my upgraded dish 500 with Dpro twin LNBF) -- when I request the additional locals dish (at 60.5) -- the thought is that the only possible solution from DISH' perspective is to add the DP34 and a 2nd 18" dish with a DP single LNBF? Any risk in making this assumption?
Also, if I went to route of buying the complete 721 system from sears instead, can I put the Dpro Twin onto my existing dish 500 and then buy a Dpro single and install it onto one of the connections from the dish 500 (which has a y connector, right?). I was wondering if the process of replacing a twin LNBF with a single would require any additional hardware or if the single connection could be hooked up instead? I have found that I can get the twin Dpro for only $13 more than the single Dpro -- so I was leaning that way just because I was a little worried about the compatibility of installing a single on a twin mount.
Thanks again, for all comments and advice.

I'm not able to answer most of your technical questions or your question about whether an installer would give you the DP equipment you need if you request missing locals...
But I can confirm that if you purchase the Dish Network 721PVR System from Sears, item number 38192, you WILL receive the receiver, a Dish 500, a DishPro twin LNBF, some screws and cables (though no RG6 cables at all), and the Platinum Plus remote.
You will also automatically receive the $50 rebate receipt and rebate redemption form when they ring you up. Just make sure you are ordering 38192, as this is the SYSTEM that qualifies for the rebate whereas the RECEIVER sold by itself (I don't know item number) does not qualify.
The Dish 500 is identical to a regular Dish 500 in shape and mount. The only difference I noticed is that it has a JVC logo on it, in addition to the dish logo. I simply replaced my old twin LNBF with the Dish Pro one, though I used the non-pro twin LNBF for about a week with no problems at all. After you replace the LNBF, be sure to run a Check Switch on the receiver. Mine was acting screwy with signal levels jumping all over the place until I did that.
