I came home today to find "Searching For Signal" on both my DVR's. I checked the dish and all the connections and everything is fine. I have reset both recievers and still getting all 0s on the signal test. I called DirecTV and after going thru the troubleshooting they determined a tech would need to come out. I do have the Protection Package. They advised the soonest a tech could come out is Monday 10/15. This seems like a long time to me. I realize installs can take weeks but should a service call take 4 days for a customer without service?

I know that seems very long but for a HD upgrade in the Northwest it takes 25 days right now. I know it is a different situation but that seems pretty darn quick. Ideally it would be nice to have next day but I would assume you get treatment because of the protection plan. Good luck!

I understand the upgrades taking that long but those people still have service, just not the upgrade. I have no service at all.

It depends on how backup up the local techs are on service calls. In our market we have longer wait times on service sometimes due to storms and other things (like HD channel launches causing problems with installed equipment :D ) and sometimes the wait times are longer. I would assume you are in the noted category and they are back logged due to HD problem related service calls.

Originally, the protection package meant next day service calls. You might try calling back and pushing it up.

Did they say what he would doing/replacing?

Cheers,
Tom

They did not say. It looks to me like a LNB problem as I am getting NO siignal on my AccuTrac meter also.

Is it a regular dual lnb? If so you can purchase one at a local radio shack to verify that is the problem, then when the tech comes out you will have a spare.

Check before the multiswitch with you meter to verify if it is the lnb or not. With more than 1 dvr you will have a multiswitch somewhere.

Find your switch and see if you get signal from the dish and if so you can bypass the switch to one of your recievers till they get out to your house

No multiswitch. The 4 lines go directly to the 2 receivers with NO splices in any of the lines/

It is a SlimLine dish. Would Radio Shack carry those also?

Nope. They only carry the original single location dual lnb's.

Sorry.

I may have to see if I can find the old one. Will I get NFLST with the 3lnb dish?

Depends on how busy the local office is

Yes, just the rest of this season. Next year only the new 5lnb with the new receivers will get the HD games. Not sure about the SD part of NFLST next season.

I was able to get my appointment moved up to Sunday morning and they put me on a cancelled appointment list for earlier.

Thanks everyone for your help,
