Wanted to upgrade an oval dish to a slimline. Of course D* support said no problem to a roof or chimney mount, installation scheduled. First installer said unless it is a side of the house mount installation no problem. I said that will not work must be roof chimney. Installer says he needed a drink on his soda and drove away never to be seen again. 2nd installer said only access point would be pole in cement in the front yard to get signal, I said fine, went to get material, never heard from again. D* sent 3rd installer who said, AT9 or Slimline not possible and even added you will never get signal here.
So I said, if the installation is that impossible, then why does my E* converted 110/119 dish with a Sat-C LNB + 18" 101 pointed 18" dish get 90+ signal across the board? D* Installer says, let me talk to my sup from the truck, gets in and drives away never to be heard from again. A week later D* calls and says installation attempts / reports show I cannot get signal, wants to shutoff my account. So I said, that PPV I purchased 3 days ago was then purchased how and by who? Click, dialtone. As usual, I had to purchase my own roof tripod, slimline dish, and DAP roof sealent for the tri-pod feet. 95% min signal across 101/110/103/119 because I also purchased the optional Azimuth/Elevation Mount for Slimline.
I have had to ask myself how many times this is occuring eleswhere. This Bubba installation / upgrade project needs to stop. D* "advanced" support answers the phone like we are the dummies, hello? So followup; I captured the D* installer catching a coffee at our local Starbucks and I said, what is the problem? The D* contractor "Ironwood" says , we are contracted to complete an install within a 1 hour period. Yours is an advanced install, we are not equipped for roof / chimney mounts and only a few of us even have cordless drills. Don't hate me, this is our contract with D*, I don't get paid if I have to spend more than an hour per installation / upgrade.
