I'm probably moving into a new three unit condo building (I'd probably be the first occupant) and I have a mix of mpeg-2 and mpeg-4 (2-HR10-250, 1 HR20-700, 2 H-20s and a SD Directivo), units for a total of 11 or so connections including 3 dual tuner dvrs. I'm wired for the extra cable now, but I'd like to have a cleaner config in the new place.

The condo is prewired, but 1 coax to box. Are the MH-2 units available for sale anywhere yet? In not, anyone know any place that would sell them to an end-user when they do become available?

I thought about providing this for the two other units, but I want to take care of me first :p

I've seen the diagrams so I pretty well get the idea but all advice/information is encouraged and appreciated.

Thanks,

Kevin

Wow this is great news. I hope this means deployments are going to speed up.
I wonder how involved installation is. I.e do they have to replace wiring in the units or just a few places in the building then boom, everyone is upgraded.

I don't remember where, but recall seeing that it is a drop-in replacement for the MFH-1.

Well I sent the link to my ATT rep. She is gonna talk to their technical guys and see what their plans are. i volunteered to beta test the installation of course. haha.

[QUOTE=bobnielsen;1226715]It looks like they may now be available

There are only going to be 16,000 SWM modules available by the end of this year. That will be split between and Pace/PDI and DirecTV.

They may be ready to take orders by November first and the designs are created, but doesn't do you much good without the SWM Modules.

hmm. Well I hope SWMs go to MDU's first.
Originally my building was goint to fit it out this month, then I heard MFH-2 was delayed until next year. After I saw that post that announced availability of mfh-2 I let the ATT rep know but she has not gotten back to me yet about when they are going to install it.

I just talked to a large distributor who said they were taking orders and would fill them on a first-come first serve basis, but she couldn't quote me a price, so I didn't place an order. I'd like some, but I'm not that desperate. Realistically, I probably won't get any in a quantity I can use to outfit an MDU until next year. Fortunately, I'm busy enough without them, installing broadcast HDTV add-ons to existing master antenna systems.

So, anybody seeing anyone selling these guys to end users yet?

Looks like I may be moving sooner than I expected.

The unit I'm moving into is new construction and they have one of the old MDU systems installed, so that means no HD...and I can't live without my HD :)

This thread, titled: I can get swm8s (http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=114457) offers to furnish SWM's for $189 each and power inserters for $69 each, with the buyer also paying for the shipping from the distributor to this dealer and from this dealer to the end user.

I'm not planning on marketing them at this time. I have learned, over the last couple of years, that nearly every time I funrish someone with a unique technical remedy to their signal distribution problem, they usually wind up regarding me as the guy who screwed them because, even though no one else offered to do for them what I could do, they still believe that they are entitled to free everything and think that they could have eventually found whatever I was offering for free if they had kept looking.
