Stereo audio lags on SD channels

I am using an optical cable from my HR20-100s DVR to my home theater recevier. The 5.1 digital sound is awesome on HD channels. When I turn to a standard def channel the audio is slightly delayed through the stereo speakers as opposed to the actual TV speakers. What do I have wrong? The HD sound is in sync but the SD channels aren't.

Sounds like maybe your A/V Receiver is having trouble with the PCM audio through the Toslink?
Maybe try making sure your A/V is set to "Auto-Decode" and see if that helps.
