HR-20 100

Today an installer came out i had a bad hr-20 700 and they replaced it with the 100. Is the 100 just as good as the 700 or whats the differences.

There are just some minor hardware differences. Essentially they function the same way.

I aslo believe the -100 has an external RF antenna, coax digital audio, and supposedly runs cooler. Lastly, if you're a CE'er you're going to want a -700 as this gets most of the CE releases.

i can confirm it runs cooler than my HR20-700.

temp for -700 is 127 degrees (without a chill pad.)
temp for -700 is 117 degrees (with a chill pad).
temp for -100 is 98 degrees (without a chill pad)

Good evidence, but AFAIK no one has posted whether the temperature is measured at the same spot in the receiver, which makes a huge difference.

I really think we should make a sticky about the comparison of -700 and -100 because too many people are asking for it...how 'bout that mods?

I have a 100 and I love it so far. No problems to speak of.

two weeks ago, DTV said they would give us 100 off a new HR20, then a a few days ago when I went to order they would not. very nasty CSR. ordered what I thought was a -700 on ebay, for 358.00, it came in the sealed box, it's a 100S
which is fine for the RV as I like the fact it runs cooler, and I'll not be using DOD or anything. I would like a sticky on the 700 vs 100, are they both in production? it has coax vs digital toslink for audio? I think it has a a Sony Moble Surround system not sure what kind of imputs it has.
