I've done this before so I know it can be done, but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I've got a DVR 522 running the L4.61 software according to the System Information screen. I want to switch TV1 to support a UHF Pro remote. I have three UHF 6.0 remotes lying around so it should not be a big deal, right?
I go into Installation and enable TV1 UHF Pro setup. I go into System Information and I highlight the field for TV1 remote, press and hold the SAT button. I type the channel I want (3), press #, then record. The field updates correctly showing "3", but to the left it shows "IR" not "UHF" or "IR/UHF". Why is the type of remote not being reflected after I've enabled it in the setup screen?
Since I've done this last I do notice the System Information screen looks a lot different. There are a bunch of boxes with lower-case letters indexed to the left. I distinctly remember the old screen said something like
Primary Remote Address [2] (TV1) UHF Pro and IR
Primary Remote Address [1] (TV2) UHF Pro
Now I just see:
(TV1) IR Remote Address [2]
What gives?

Mine is working fine at 461. There was a special procedure for setting up the uhf remote for TV1. I have it here somewhere. Did you press menu, system setup 6, installation 1, tv1 uhf pro setup 6, then highlite enable?

*I found the procedure, origionally written by Cris Coop in SatelliteGuys post of 6/29/2004. Here's the excerpt of the procedure I think uou need;
Note: Steps 1 through 7 to be completed with your current TV1 (IR/Infrared) remote.
Go to the room where the 522 is, turn on the TV and TV! tuner and using your current TV1 (IR) remote, enter the following in order:
1. "Menu"
2. "System Setup" (#6)
3. "Installation" (#1)
4. "TV1 UHF Pro Setup" (#6)
5. Now go to the left side of the screen, highlight "Enable," and hit "Select" on your remote.
6. Now go back to the right ("System Info" should be highlighted) and hit "Select" on your remote.
You should be looking at the "System Info" screen.
7. Press the "up" button on your remote twice until the box next to the "Primary Remote Address" is highlighted in yellow.
Now, grab your "TV2" UHF (blue bottom) remote and follow this procedure:
Note: All steps from here on will use the TV2 (UHF) remote.
1. Hold down the "Sat" button (upper left corner of the remote) for a few seconds until all four of the top buttons light up. When they all light up, release the "Sat" button.
The Sat button should now be flashing.
2. Enter a number on the keypad of the remote. It can be any number between 1 an 16 but it MUST be diffrent than the number in the lower box (next to the "Secondary Remote Address"). If you do try to enter the same number, you willbe prompted that it isn't allowed. If you want to use the same number as your IR remote enter that.
3. After entering your number, press the pound/search key "#" (lower right corner), wait a second. The "Sat" button (upper left corner) should flash three times.
4. After the Sat button has finished flashing, press the "Record" button on the remote (near middle, under the "Pause" button. The yellow box should now display the number you entered in step #2.
5. Press the "Down" button on the remote two times until "done" is highlighted.
6. Press "Select" on the remote.
You are now controlling TV1 of your 522 with the UHF remote. Enjoy!
*That's the jist of his procedure. I just added the bit about using the same address as your IR remote. I presonally feed both TV1 and TV2 outputs throught a combiner (using splitter in reverse) onto the house cable wiring viewing either on the rest of the tvs of the house using uhf remotes switching the remote address using the sat, number pad, and # key.

And I got a 2nd UHF Pro remote so I can use both TV1 and TV2 via RF remotes. I also use the IR TV1 remote in the bedroom, using an IR target with my ChannelPlus video distribution system.

I did do all those procedures, but it still wouln't work.
But I think I figured out the problem. I didn't realize the little colored "TV1 or TV2" tab on the bottom actually did anything other than tell us what remote it's for. There must be some sort of microswitch inside. I had swapped the tab to show "TV1". That apparently told the remote to do only IR. I flipped the tab to "TV2" and followed the steps and it now works. I just have two remotes with blue tabs, but one controls TV1, the other TV2, and everyone is happy. Dish Network is supposedly sending me some sort of "kit" (I'm assuming it's just a different tab) that will allow me to have the green "TV1" tab and UHF capability.
