EchoStar CEO Charlie Ergen sent out some positive vibes concerning DISH Network's ongoing negotiations with TNT concerning continued carriage of the network, though no formal agreement is yet in place.
Ergen told retailers during his December "Retail Chat" Thursday he is more positive than he was two weeks ago that a carriage deal can get inked with TNT. However, EchoStar stressed no agreement has yet been reached with the network.
Earlier this month, Ergen told DISH Network subscribers the company is trying to negotiate a new carriage contract with TNT. He said at the time he wasn't optimistic a deal could be hammered out before the end of the year.
In addition to the TNT talk, Ergen said EchoStar will add a local TV channel package for its DISH Network customers in Louisville, Ky. With the addition of Louisville, DISH Network now offers local channels to 54 cities.
