I am a long time Dish Network subscriber, and I am relocating from Houston to Dallas. I have the following equipment: receivers - 1000, 4000, 2700, Dishplayer; a Dish 500 with 2 Dual LNBs; 2 SW21s and an SW44.

My question is ... Should I use the dishmover program and keep my existing stuff, or can my wife qualify as a new subscriber after we move to get some upgraded equipment like a 508. Can my old receivers be activated on a new account? Will I be able to use any of the old stuff for future upgradability? Will the installer buy any of it off me?

Some of the online retailers have great deals on packages for new subs like $69 for a 508 package or $329 for a 721 package. Is this just pie in the sky thinking and should I be happy with what I have, or can I have the best of both worlds?

Many thanks for any and all input!

Has your wifes name been on your existing account if yes then it is already on DISH's computer. Is the existing equipment on an account that both of you share if you connect it to a new account it will tie the two together and disqualify you as a new customer. Do you have a credit card on your DISH account, don't use it with DISH again. Now you are moving to a new address, a new area code and phone number if you do not give DISH anything to connect the old account you can put it in your name. Dish does actively try to prohibit existing customers from qualifying again as new customers but you can probably find a dealer to help you requalify as a new customer. Your worth far more to a dealer as a new customer than as an existing customer.
