Here's a funny story for your Thursday morning...
I received a sales call from AT&T last night trying to get me to change my HSI from Cable to DSL. When I told them I wasn't interested in that, the telemarketer said, "Well do you have cable tv right now?" I answered no, I have D*. Which then fired him right up. "Well, do you know that we offer Dish Network and can give you a great deal on all your programming, including the best HD in the industry?" :lol:
Needless to say, I just started laughing at the guy. I let him wonder for a minute and then had to burst his bubble by informing him that D* is up to 72 HD channels and are planning on 100 by year end. He continued with "Oh, I didn't know they had that many channels now." I just answered "Yep". "Ok, sir, have a nice day, Goodbye". Click!
Guess the AT&T supervisors didn't bother to update the selling packet for the telemarketers. Happy Thursday!! :)

I try to restrain myself with telemarketers, they're people too, and every so often I get someone who really "gets it". I was talking to a telemarketer one night (nothing on TV, this was about two months ago) and I say to him, nothing personal, I know you're just reading but that is one of the worst scripts I have heard. He started laughing, had to put me on hold for a second, and came back and simply said, "Yes" then got back into the script.

I have little or no compassion for telemarketers...make them hate their jobs and maybe no one will want to be one!

Even though I switched to Verizon DSL two months ago, I still get offers from them to sign up for DSL. Offers that would be a downgrade from what I'm already buying from them.

+1 That sounds like Verizon :D They don't even offer DSL where I live yet. But we keep getting all these ads about it :rolleyes:

D* is up to 72 HD channels and are planning on 100 by year end.
Keep in mind that 8 of those channels are HD PPVs, 8 more are HD DNS feeds that most can't get 4 of, let alone all 8 of, and 9 of those 70 are RSNs, you know REGIONAL sports networks.
Realistically, the count is closer to 50.

What was he selling?
I hope that most people treat CSRs and telemarketers with decency.

...and those RSNs are the sole reason I subscribe to D* and not someone else.:)

My point is that they are including channels that nobody can get all of.

I think it might have been tickets to a local concert hall, I don't remember.

If you buy the sports pack and the various separate sports packages you can.
DirecTV has always catered to the sports fans. As one of them that makes me very happy. I want to see every baseball game, football game, hockey game and basketball game in HD and I don't mind paying something extra for it. If you are not a sports junkie, then many of these additions are of no value.
Subject: The Spanish Lesson
Spanish teacher was explaining to her class that in Spanish, unlike English, nouns are designated as either masculine or feminine.
"House"for instance, is feminine: "la casa."
"Pencil,"however, is masculine: "el lapiz."
A student asked,"What gender is 'computer'?"
Instead of giving the answer, the teacher split the class into two groups,
male and female, and asked them to decide for themselves whether "computer"should be a masculine or a feminine noun.
Each group was asked to give four reasons for its recommendation.
The men's group decided that"computer" should definitely be of the feminine gender ("la computadora"), because:
1. No one but their creator understands their internal logic;
2. The native language they use to communicate with other computers is incomprehensible to everyone else;
3. Even the smallest mistakes are stored in long term memory for possible later retrieval; and
4. As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find yourself spending half your paycheck on accessories for it.
(THIS GETS BETTER!)
The women's group, however, concluded that computers should be Masculine
("el computador"), because:
1. In order to do anything with them, you have to turn them on;
2. They have a lot of data but still can't think for themselves;
3. They are supposed to help you solve problems, but half the time they ARE the problem; and
4. As soon as you commit to one, you realize that if you had waited a little longer, you could have gotten a better model.
The women won.

That is pretty good, but just today I got an offer to switch to D* and get their premier package for 4 months with Sunday Ticket. The interesting part is I have had D* since 2002! Even though Verizon is just slightly above Comcrap in the most screwed up company ever category, D* is not imune either.
That's interesting. I'm pretty sure AT&T is partnered with DirecTV in my area. Not Dish Network.

That's because Florida is former BellSouth territory.
