Did dishnetowrk define how they can still state they are the "largest HD Lineup"..
By any definition... and "counting" DirecTV still comes out on top.
Edit: Okay, now that I read the article.
How did Dish Network go from 48 channels just 10 days ago... to 75 channels today?

It's all puffing anyway. I don't really care who has the most HD channels. I only care who has the HD channels and content I want to watch.

Now DISH - in desperation obviously - is counting part-time 'game-only' channels available only in specific DMAS (the RSNs they have) - as HD National channels.
If DirecTV were to add THEIR 'part-time' 'game-only' RSNs it would increase their count ALSO by another15 or so (taking them to 90). This would make a great case to also be able to include all of the NFL channels - after all they are 'part-time' game-only' channels. This would push DirecTV to about 100.
What I want to see now is for all of the DISH people here that have complained so loudly for the past 2 years about DirecTv being misleading in their ads to say that this is even further out-there than anything DirecTV said about its own HD. After all - DirecTV has those HD-RSNs BEFORE DISH, they also had NFL ST SF for 3 years now.
Charlie is looking like a desperado today IMHO.

Their website doesn't show anywhere near 75 channels.

I already know D* is the leader in HD - no other company would be able to convince me otherwise at this point.

He is counting game-only RSNs and PPV. Well, he had better be careful because using the same technique, DirecTV can count them as well as the NFL channels.
Odd counting games are stupid because the other guy can use the same counting techniques.

The problem with Dish is, you can't fool people all the time. Eventually people who actually have Dish then compare to D will understand they are being ripped off.

unfortunately, most DiSH customers remain fooled.
You know...Charlie is looking out for me by not bidding on the baseball package....

It's a race with the finish line nowhere in sight. As long as they keep reving those engines and kicking in the horsepower, the spectators are the winners.

Their "counting" sickens me. D* Passed E* a couple weeks ago. It makes me think they're not going to even try to compete when they say they're still winning. They're not. So get us some more HD E*!!!
Isn't Echostar launching a new satellite in the near future? is it a replacement or for new programming?

Come on guys, does it really matter who has more or how it's counted? The question is, do you have your "must-have" HD channel yet?
For me, it's SciFi, check!
For Mrs. Shadow, HGTV, check!
It's a happy house we've got now.

I agree 100% Speed and SciFi were the ones for me, there are 3 or 4 others I occasionally watch and a couple more that I watch if I have nothing else to do. Thats it. There is no way I can watch 70 channels, let alone 100 or 150!

I don't care who has more...I can only watch one channel at a time. :)
Dish lost me years ago when they decided not to offer my locals in HD.
I like it when D and E* push each other because we as customers win :) But I also like truth in advertizing and I think E* has missed the boat this time :raspberry
Well unless E* is going to launch 3 satellites and have a total of 5 HD satellites.I don't think D* subscribers need to worry about who the Leader of HD is going to be.;)
"Don't worry, can't you see.The leader in HD will be D*".:)

Well Directv has been the leader at my house for several years - and will continue to be. I don't really care about "my guide is bigger than yours". They can enjoy all the WhatChannelHD?, NeverHeardOfHD, and PottedCactusHD channels they want. Directv already has more than I can watch now - and the list will be complete for me after Spike ( love those Bond marathons ) and the rest of the Discovery channels.
This has nothing to do with E* pushing D*. This has to do with Echostar maintaining their customer base until they can get the bandwidth they need....
I posted this back in another thread...
So... how long until DishNetwork have "counter" ads out?
Dish already states comparable HD offerings (this one from coverage of their addition of TBS-HD)
DISH said it now carries more than 70 HD channels....
To the consumer that does not investigate further - that lineup looks to be on par with Directv.

Agreed! Now, it's not about quantity, it's all about viewing quality. Do you have what I want to watch, with a clear and uninterrupted feed, and is it at a price that I can afford, without having to use an abacus to total up all of the tid-bit add ons for this, that and the other?
By the way, where is NHL Network D*?

Same argument, different day, different thread. I wish the self-proclaimed elitists who continue to say the same thing would be more original in their thoughts and comments. If we have to continue to plow through the same garbage in every thread at least say something new for a change.

It would be quite easy for D* to build a channel matrix that showed clearly what channels are national, region specific, sports etc.

After the "NFL 24x7" campaign, none of Dish's gutter-marketing campaigns surprise me anymore.

Come on guys, does it really matter who has more or how it's counted? The question is, do you have your "must-have" HD channel yet?
Let's see ...
HBO, Max, Starz, Showtime, TMC ... check
USA (for L&O: Criminal Intent) ... check
Sci-Fi (for Battlestar Galactica) ... check
NFL Network ... check
CNN ... check
Sunday Ticket in MPEG-4 ... NOT !!!
My only real gripe is that NFL:ST HD channels are not mapped over to MPEG-4. As things stand now, many of them have two games so the second game often starts late if the first runs long. I believe that will be fixed next season.
cheers
