View Full Version : MEPG 4 Sig. levels
Where am i getting my MPEG 4 LIL from , it looks like they are coming from 99 B transponder 3 while my MPEG 2 national feeds are on 119 ( see photo ) If this is true it look like i will loose LIL when we get rain , Photo was taken with tuner 1 on Ch 4 NY and tuner 2 on Ch 82 NBC national feed.

You might want to go into the Sat&Ant (or Satellite, depending on your receiver) menu, view signal strengths, and look at the signal strengths for all transponders and all satellites. It will help us understand your issue a little more.

Signals on all Sats 101, 110 ,119 ,103 A & B & 99 B on my HR 20-700 that do not show NA or 0 are in the range of 100 to 92 with transponder 3 on 99 B running @ 35 to 45

Your NY local HD is on 99(b). Are you having a problem? Your signals appear fine, based on your post. You should have 1 or more 99(b) signals in the 90's. Ignore the rest.

It looks like there on transponder # 3 and it reads 35 to 50 all the time on both tuners. If i go to chns. in the 70s or 80s on both tuners ( MPEG #2) my readings are 96 to 100 .

Then your dish alignment needs tweaking. Give DirecTV a call.

Huh? Perhaps you could post back with the complete list of signal readings for each transponder on each satellite. I'm confused.
If your locals are on Transponder 3 on 99-deg W, and you're only reading in the 30's, then that's way too low.

Perhaps I wasn't clear. I have no idea what exact tp(s) your 99(b) HD locals are on. If you have 1 or more tp's in the 90's, as you say, they are on 1 or more of those tp's. Tp 3 is somebody else's HD locals. Both 103(a) and 99(b) are precisely-pointed spot beams. You should expect to see low level tp signal strengths on some of them, zero's on others.
