I'm taking my 508 with us on vacation.
Do I need to "Park" the hard drive?

I think just about all drives today drives today auto-park. But to be safe, power off, wait a minute, then pull the plug and wait a minute before moving it.

Boy, that's a blast from the past! I haven't had to park a hard drive since the days of my 80 MB MFM drive in 1987! :D

In 1990 I did have to run Park.exe on the older IBM PS/2 Model 50-80. Luckily that stopped being necessary :D

Remember, when you power it off, it takes 5 minutes to actually shutdown. It's obvious when mine does because it emits a high pitch whine while it's spinning.

Travelling with a 508 or any other PVR product is not recommended because of the hard drive. I wish they could make one that you could travel with without having to worry so much about the hard drive, like some kind of cushion or something for the hard drive.
