while inspecting some wires for my electric/cable/directv I noticed that the directv line wasnt grounded. The phone service had a grounding wire, the cable had a grounding wire but nothing with directv. Since i dont have a phone, all i did was cut the phone ground copper wire and connected it to the directv line (easiest way since the other end was already grounded to the grounding rod. Good move or bad? Do i still need a ground for phone even if i dont have a phone?

I looked at the grounding requirements in this post: Grounding (http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?p=941620#post941620)
looking at option 2, I have the grounding wire from cable grounding block installed as mentioned in first post, but i do not have grounding wire from the antenna. Call directv and have them send out another installer?

Call DIRECTV and tell them that your installation does not meet local or national code.
Improper grounding has caused performance problems as well in many areas.
In addition, there are deaths every year due to floating grounds.
Here are the basics:

but not near the amount of deaths caused by people talking on their cell phones while driving daily

It's not the talking that kills them, it's the sudden "grounding" during the crash.
Sorry, I could not resist but, I did stay on topic.
