Mastec In South Florida (The Worst!!)

Ok...So my old samsung S4080 dies...I call DTV to get a replacement no problem R15 to be installed no charge. This past Saturday Installer calls and I give him directions. So far so good. About 20 minutes later the guy shows up. No work order nothing. He says he only has an HR20-100 in his truck. He asks do I mind having that with no additional charge. I say sure. 5 Minutes later another Mastec Installer shows up and proceeds to yell at me for not calling him to let him know someone else was there. I tell him how am I supposed to know which Mastec Tech was coming over. I ask him for the work order. He doesnt have one. The first guy is installing the HR20 and says he can not hook up my DVD player because "Color does not go through S-Video!!". I laugh and say whatever. He then tells me he is done for the day and to call DTV to activate the new box. I tell him it is his job. He says nope and leaves. I call DTV and deactivate the old box and activate the new box. While on the phone I advise the CSR that he gave me an HR20. She laughs and notes the account that I am not to be charged for the installers ineptitude. I then hook up the box to the DVD Recorder and am all set. By the way the HR20 on SD TV looks great. Just my rant.

What a dramatic sceen. I hope you enjoy the HR20 though, I do mine!

If I were in the same situation, since I can't resist messing with people, I would have fired the second guy up in as much as I could...but that's me, I think you handled it quite well.

Did you explain this to DirecTV? Don't the installers get rated on their performance through DirecTV? I would at least check, but then, you do have that shiny new HR20 to play with...:D

I'm not sure where you are at in South FL, but I am near Ft Myers on the West Coast (not sure who my installation company is as they showed up 4 hours EARLY for the re-installation attempt after completely blowing off the original installation) Hopefully the re-re installation attempt tomorrow will go better:lol:

Welcome to the world of Mastec. Make certain everything works before you sign off on any job Mastec does. It took them 5 trips for my 5 lnb upgrade and after the last "tech" left, I peaked the dish.
