In my bill this month there were a couple of flyers about a new "DishHD Free" (for 6 months) offer. Online it appears this offer is at http://www.dishnetwork.com/content/our_products/dish_hd/offer/index.shtml
Currently we have the DishDVR Advantage package with a 525 receiver. This offer appears to offer an HD DVR upgrade and 6 free months after which it would cost $20/month to get the HD channels or $6/month to not get them. It says "customer must upgrade existing equipment." I am wondering what this will all entail. I am considering this. I'm also considering keeping our current receiver (we've got about 70 unwatched hours) and then would run each DVR in single mode.
I presume I would need a new dish (I'm in the DC area so it might be two). How would the cabling run from from the dish(es) into the house? Could they work appropriately to feed two receivers? Would there be extra costs for installation of the dishes? Would the DHPP help with that? Since we are on DishDVR Adavantage would the local channels also be available in HD?
If anyone has some insight on this, it would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Neil
