Has D* changed things? The installation tip sheet (top of the forum) says to call the Customer Installation Support number to confirm the order contents and to get the local contact for the install.

When I call that, the only options I have are to confirm/change/cancel the appointment; the option to 'talk to a rep' only goes to the appointment confirm menu.

So, how do we get in touch with the installation company to verify things the day before? (I have an upgrade install for 10/23, so wanted to check on things.)

40 views and no replies? :) Is no one following the steps? :) Actually, I'm wondering if the installation volume is so high right now because of the new channels so that CIS won't/can't answer the phone for any order that hasn't "happened" yet.

Or perhaps too many of us are calling in to verify stuff and talk to the local installer.... Anyway, I think the #1 tip is to get a morning slot so the installer is fresh, has all day, and can steal, uh, borrow, equipment from the next poor slob on the list.

But, I would like to know from anyone installed, say, a month ago if it's now permanently impossible to get CIS on the phone before an install. Would be good to know if the installation tip sheet needs to be updated.

Got to say I haven't the slightest idea on how to get in touch with the installer. I sat around 5 weeks ago doing virtually nothing waiting for them to show. If I'd had a number I could have at least gotten some update on their progress in my direction.

I have called D* and asked for my installers number before, they have always given it to me just fine. I usually just called the main number and they would transfer me to I believe equipment.

Good to know, since the CIS number seems to be totally automated except for activations now. Perhaps that needs to be added to the install checklist form?

Edit:
And, I just called them, since they did call at 10:30 (for my 8-12 window), saying he'd be here at 11:30. I called at 12:00, now he has no idea, since the previous install is running late.

Good thing we ask for morning installs. Hate to think where we'd be with a 12-5 or whatever window! :)
