I'm sure some of these questions have been asked before, but I can't seem to find them anywhere so I hope you'll bear with me. My installation is set for Wednesday morning and I have a few questions.

1.) My house is a one story modular with no attic access. Is it better to have the dish mounted on the roof with the cables ran under the siding and whatnot to get under the house, or mounted on a pole nearby with the cables underground? Is grounding an issue with roof installs? Will the installer do whichever one I ask if both are viable?

2.) I'm only installing on two TV's right now, but I want to be able to expand later. Can I ask the installer for a 6x8 multi-switch even though I don't NEED one? Could the multi-switch reside in the crawlspace under my house or does it need to be powered or climate controlled? I think it would be good have one so that I don't have to get on the roof or run more cables to the roof if I want to add more TV's later.

The installer will more than likely do whichever is easiest, if you don't like his plan tell him what you do want. No you cannot get the MS now, when you do upgrade and need it DirecTV will provide it then. MS does not need to be powered(wb68) and it is weather proof.

I'm probably splitting hairs here...... I wouldn't say weather proof as much as it is weather resistant. :)

1) The installer will put it wherever it is easiest for him. If he can get a clear shot of the needed sats from the roof or wall and you want it on a pole, you will most likely get charged. Unless you make some other arrangement with the installer. ;)

2) Very doubtfull that the installer will part with the 6x8 as its not needed. Our warehouse has become very, very tight with them. So, if its not listed as a line item on the workorder, the installer most likely won't part with it. But other arrangements could possibly be made. ;)

You have great answers above. All I can add is to check out the other tips in these threads:
