I love Friends, but I think they have to lay it to rest. It is really starting to show its age. What can they do now. Ross and Rachel get married (already been done and kind of a letdown after the baby). Chandler and Monica have a baby (boring after dealing with current baby). Only thing left to go is get Joey and Pheobe together so they all end up paired off.

well, as long as the ratings are high....and as long as the net is willing to pay the money...and as long as the actors want to do this(keep in mind that most of the women on the show are just a year or two away from 40 and realize that this is going to be the best cash cow they could be on-in addition, the gals are all married now and being on a popular series is great when raising the kids when they're small)...as long as NBC thinks they need them, their friends will be your friends...

I just think of "Mad About You". (I know most of you hate the show). But the last season was soooo terrible it made me stop watching and not want to watch the repeats. Of course when I have seen the repeats of the pre-last season I remembered what I really liked about the show. But then again Friends is in a special class like Mash and other shows where the repeats are so popular that even one bad season won't really hurt it.

Friends is probably one of NBC's most expensive shows, with each of the main actors getting $1 million per episode.

NBC will pay $10 million per episode. Warner Brothers pays the actors etc. Whether the additiaonl year will be directly profitable for anyone but the actors is hard to say.

It will probably be break even for the network, but the choice of replacing it with a show that may not do well isn't as acceptable because that would probably lead to loosing money AND PRESTIGE!!!

also, because jennifer aniston wants to have a baby, they will ONLY film 18 episodes next year(translation:repeats of some VERY SPECIAL RERUNS)....

Although it did seem to resurge last season, I think this season would be good to end it on. I'd hate to see it revert to the way it was 2 seasons ago and although it's better than most shows on TV it's showing its age.

But just as jrjcd has said, they'll probably take the money. I can see Jennifer and Lisa making movies but Mathew and Courtney will probably only make it in other series. David and Matt will be lucky to get character roles once in a while...

This is one show that is a dead horse anymore. NBC is stuck like many other OTA networks without any good ideas for new shows so they just try to keep their good ones forever, even if they are boring.

The problem NBC has right now is no show to replace it. Friends was able to take over for Sienfield, but there is no great show right now to fill the slot. Scrubs lacks a lot IMHO, and Will and Grace is funny but not the same draw as Friends/Sienfield had. They could move Frasier back to Thursday, but how long will that show run and does it still have the ratings.
