I live in a NDU. We have 12 units with 3 5-LNB dishes servicing 4 units each. The down lines are multiswitched.
So we have the 5lnb, and the mpeg 4 equipment. I'm assuming my multiswitches are now needing replaced from what I have read?
Problem is we don't have an MDU Servicer, the building was a new build and install was done and now we have to deal w/ Directv's rotating contract techs so I have to spend an hour each time detailing w/ whatever installer it may, how things need to be dealt with.
Is my assumption on multi-switches correct or is there a workaround?
Also, a contact at Direct was referenced that might have clear answers, anyone care to share that name/number?

Unless they are already the Zinwell, yes you will need to replace them.

Nope, only the Zinwell wb68 and wb16 are compatible and will give you access to all the channels that you are supposed to be receiving.

Great... so I have $1500 in multiswitches that are now obsolete.
Sweet. I was told when we went to MPEG4 these switches wouldn't work, but they are working. I hope you guys are wrong... but I know you aren't.

I do not believe they will. Pretty sure they would only work with 3LNB and older. My last understanding was Zinwell was the only "certified" multiswitch for the MPEG-4 channels.

I thought the HD locals were MPEG4, no? I don't have antenna and get the local HDs which I did not get prior to the 5lnb and the mpeg4 boxes?

You will most likely get problems when multiple people are watching multiple MPEG4 channels.
