View Full Version : Moving to Venezuela
Alright guys,
I am moving to the southern part of Venezuela and was wondering if I could pick up DirecTv's 101W over there.
I would keep my account open here in the USA and would ship the receiver and LNBs and would try to adapt them to a bigger dish.
Any clue if I may be able to squeeze the signal over there?
Any tips, suggestions, comments are appreciated.

I thought I had read that their signal goes as far south as central Mexico, roughly. If that's true, then there's no way it would reach Venezuela.

First, it would be a violation of your service agreement.
Second, it wouldn't work.
You need to be able to see the satellite from your spot on the ground, but the satellite also has to be beaming signals in your direction. DirecTV is not pointed that far south.
Since you've chosen to live in a foreign country, try to see how the natives get their TV. It'll give you a new perspective, and it'll give you some insight on what's important to your new neighbors. Good luck!

You might be able to get Sky Brazil (part of the D* empire) on Intelsat-6B, but you'd need a new dish and LNB. Maybe a different receiver too.

Ask rafeal in in the dbsfourms.com latin american forum (http://www.dbsforums.com/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=20)he lists his location as Venezuela and seems to be the goto guy for dbs in south and central america.
