Parcells signs a deal earlier this year to work with ESPN. ESPN is a TV network that televises the NFL. Their NFL pre-game show which Parcells was on Saturday aired at 11:30am ET to 12:00pm ET. No mention of a Jerry Jones meeting at a airport.
CBS (desperately in need of ratings) gets a scoop that Parcells meets with Jerry about the Cowboys job last Wednesday. CBS repots it on their pre-game show that aired between 12:30 to 1:30pm ET.
ESPN is now in basketball mode all day. CBS reports on their post-game show shortly before 5:00pm ET that Parcells issued a statement that the meeting is true, but no job was offered. FOX then immediately aired that on their pre-game show.
ESPN bosses no doubt ticked off that they didn't have the story first on their pre-game show considering Parcells WORKS at ESPN gets Mort and Parcells together for an interview that airs twice right before 8:00pm ET and right after. You had to know Mort was ticked off that "his sources" didn't have this story. ESPN covers this story for 10 minutes on their pre-game show before the Cowboys game. Include a Jones interview at the opening of the game from Suzy and Boomer discusses it again at halftime of the Cowboys game. Boomer says we will talk more about this on Sunday. If ESPN is so good as they report then why not talk about on Saturday's pre-game show?
My question is why does Parcells hold this from ESPN and let another network air what happened first as that is what happened? You knew the story was going to get out someway. Parcells' boss not to mention Mort must be having steam coming out their head tonight. Parcells must not be happy at ESPN to hold this from them? CBS outscooped everyone. Granted it's not that big of a deal/story, but Parcells works at ESPN. ESPN was playing catch-up all day. Mort probably has his head in a bucket of cold water tonight at home. How did I miss this story?
Anyone else think what happened was kind of weird or does no one else care?
