I will soon have the new slimline dish and a HR20 installed. I currently have runs of RG6 Quad Shield cable that is marked 2300 MHZ run from the dish to my current DirecTV Tivo and throught out the entire house. My question is, will this cable work for the new hi-def sat signals from the dish to the receiver? I don't want new cables run as I already have them fished through the walls and have nice finished wall plate jacks.

Just want to make sure the 2300 MHZ RG6 Quad Shield cable will be OK for the new satellite signals.

The new stuff they are installing is actually branded DirecTV right on the coax and it says it is rated at 3GHz.

However, I bet your 2.3 GHz stuff will be fine. I have some RG-6 in my system from the older days of DirecTV labeled "1800 MHz". I bet I'll have to get that replaced when I finally jump to HD.

My two cents:
As long as it's solid copper core it will be fine.

Quad shield is not needed, but does not hurt anything either.

A solid copper center conductor is recommended due to DC voltage carrying capabilities. This is very important if you have long cable runs (over 125 feet or so), less important for shorter runs.

The frequency response/capability of your coax should be adequate.

I am using all copper clad steel quad shield coax in my house (was installed before the solid copper spec came out). From dish to receiver, I am in the 100 to 125 foot range on several rooms, and have had no problems at all.
