I'm sorry if this is a total newb question and has been answered before on the board. I couldn't find anything about it.

I have an installation scheduled for 1 HD DVR and 3 standard receivers at my house/workshop. My question is, my workshop is over 300 ft from my house, where the dish will be installed. I will have 3 receivers in my house, and 1 in my workshop. I told the rep when I ordered my service that one of my receivers would be a long way from the dish, and they acted like it wouldn't be a big deal. Would it be better to use a dish for my house and dish for my workshop, or is using the existing coax run from my house to my workshop going to be OK? Is it even possible to have 3 receivers on one dish and 1 receiver on the other?

Thanks in advance for any help, I am totally new to this DirecTV stuff.

300ft would be pushing it without some additional hardware. ie, polarity lockers, amps, etc.

My advice. It wouldn't surprise me if former President Jackson and perhaps another former president could convice the installer to put up a basic dish on your workshop. ;) Those presedents can be very persuasive.

Those dead Presidents really know how to "articulate."

Awesome, thanks for the advice and quick response, I'll keep a few dead presidents around the house for install day!

Yes they do. :D

I did this once at a customers house. No presidents where harmed btw. The only way to get a line from the house to the garage was to do a long overhead drop or dig up the cement patio. They were putting a DVR out there for football, so it need dual lines anyway. No go on either. It was just faster to slap up a 18" dish and be done with it.
