I just figured since everyone is so quick to rip a bad installer that I would be just as quick to give out some compliments.
I have had low signal strengths on the new 103b sat since it went live. Some TP's in 50's and most in the 60's. I have called in and said I need an allignment because even with the slightest rain I would lose all channels on that come off of 103b. My appointment was for today between 12 and 4. At exactly 12:05 there is a knock on my door and two Directv installers are standing there smiling. I let them in and before I can say anything, they inform me that they have already checked the dish and know what is wrong! The slimline dish was never installed properly to begin with. The installer used the mast from my original 3 LNB dish. He used only one support bar. They went ahead and checked the connections, multiswitch, and ground block anyways just to be sure. Before he took down the dish, he grabbed a hold of the mast and shook it to show me how loose it was. He could literally move the dish an inch in either direction. To make a long story short, they removed the dish, replaced the mast with the correct one, installed 2 support bars, and reinstalled the dish. After he was done he grabbed the new mast and said you could hang on this thing. It's not going anywhere. It took them about an hour to do this and now my signal strengths are all in the 90's on all sats, save for a few TP's here and there. I don't remember their names and I wish I did. They did a great job and made sure everything was right before leaving. Excellent work.
