View Full Version : Round dish to access 101, 110 or 119?

Can I use a Round Dish to pull in programming from any of the 3 satellites (101, 110 & 119). I know I will not be able to get all simultaneously, but if I want to watch something in HD on 110, can I just rotate the dish a little or am I limited to watching ONLY channels on 101?

Why don't I use a 3-LNB, you may ask?

I will be using this in my RV and, unlike a Round Dish I've seen (that has a fold up arm for transport), the 3-LNB dish I used to use does not allow the arm to fold up and the dish part got bent, thus rendering it useless. I think the the fold-up round dish will transport better and as a bonus, be quicker to align.

Thanks!

Well I thought someone else would jump in here but....
The 101 & 119 use the same LNB so maybe you can "just" swing it over there and change the elevation too.
The 110 LNB is a different type so I every much doubt you'll have any luck there.

VOS is correct .... you could "swing your dish" to receive 101-deg W and 119-deg W, but not 110-deg W. But most all of the channels you want are on 101-deg, so you're just complicating things by worrying about the other satellites. 110-deg W only beams some HiDef channels while 119-deg beams local channels to select cities along with Spanish channels.

110 requires a special lower frequency lnb.

I know the round dish will get you 101 but I don't know if you can use it to get any of the other locations even if you aim it. I do know that if you aim away from 101 there can be issues with guide data since it's on 101.

With a multi-switch there will be problems [but not without] and Tom says 119 also has guide data for when you've been tuned away from 101 for too long.
