Going HD....dish question

Hey!
I see from a local electronics retailer, that I can purchase a ViP 211 for cheap. I have a new HD tv and would like to get HD programming. In the past, when I signed up for dish, my locals were on the 148 bird, but now have been moved to the 110 slot. I had two DPP 500's on my roof. Could I repoint that second DPP 500 to the 129 slot to receive the HD programming? Would that work, or do I need the 1000?

Some have a 500 pointed to get 110/119 and the second pointed at 129. Supposedly, this config is preferrable because 129 is finicky using a 1000.2.

I'd think that having 1 dish for each orbital loc. would be preferible in ANY case. In jamming all the locations to 1 dish you are sacrificing optimal signal quality for a smaller footprint...
