In the past I've been able to view my statements online. Now when I go to view those statements I'm taken to a page that wants to sign me up for online billing. I don't want online billing. I just want to see last months statement. Has this been a recent change?
They changed it back in March. You can see recent activity without switching to onliine billing. Also, a CSR offered to switch me back to paper billing if I needed to get to the online billing. They said, just call and change it back.

The only way now is to look at the "View activity since last bill" link.
It no longer lets you review the actual statement online unless you sign up for the paperless billing.

That is correct, I can see the amount due and recent activity but not the actual bill.

Because they are trying to get away from paper bills.

Because they have you locked into a long term contract so any expense that helps the customer but does not produce revenue is being eliminated.

Funny, I'm signed up on AutoPay and was told I could not look at my statements online because they are required to send me a paper bill because of the autopay by credit card. I've escalated this to Directv web support and received a call at home from a supervisor telling me that it is required I receive a paper bill, even though it is always marked with no payment is due at this time.
When I try to set my account up for online billing, I just get an error message telling me that there was a problem and to try again. No matter how many times I try, I always get the same message.

It has been my experience that "Recent Activity" very frequently does not reflect actual billing. YMMV.

It would be interesting to find the common thread that dictates what happens on paper & viewing bills. I have had autopay now for I believe 3-4 years, and still get paper statements, and can view statements on line.

I beleive you have to receive a paper statement if it is EFT - not debit/credit card.

Gee I would like to know what is going on also  You get the best of both worlds while others are told we can't view statements on line if we get a paper bill

Sign up for on-line billing, when the "Your Billing Statement is Ready for Viewing" e-mail comes click "view statements", while looking at your billing statement on-line, click the "Print" button. Now you have a paper bill AND on-line viewing.

My question is why would you want a paper bill that always reads zero at the bottom of it? I don't. Since it is deducted directly from my credit card, I see that amount on my credit card statement. As long as that looks right, I don't go any further. If I need to, I can then go online and look at the latest bill at directv.com. Seems good enough to me.
Why should DirecTV waste the paper and the postage to send me a paper bill that I don't have to pay?

You don't have to have a paper bill. Some need/want them for various reasons. Why DirecTV wouldn't let those people view their bill online makes no sense. It doesn't cost more to allow them to view it online...and you never know they may switch.
As I said earlier...you can always switch to online billing to view your bill and then call a CSR to have it switched back. That will end up costing DirecTV more and waste customer time...but that's the system they have elected to go with.

Give me a need, please. The "want" I can understand but we are moving to a paperless billing society - checks are becoming passe - and it may be time to give up that "want". As I said, it just reads zero.
Educate me. Why would anybody need a paper bill?

Got it. If I was a bar business I could expense my DirecTV.
Good reason. Thanks. :)

There are plenty of others (not me) that can legally deduct either all or a portion of their DirecTV expenses.

I do not have online billing and I always have been able to see my statements whenever I want to see them. On the My Account page I click on the link "View My Bill" and voila 21 months of bills are there for my viewing pleasure.

For some reason they changed that for a lot of people early this year. My account was changed. I'm not sure why they didn't do it to everyone.
