I got a Slimeline dish delivered for a family member off the auction site. The LNB's have white plastic covers instead of the semi clear covers on my dish. It is a Directv dish with slimline stamped on it. Is there a reason for the white caps?

Sounds like my dish which was put up just 3 weeks ago yesterday. I saw the box it came out of and that was stamped with a manufacture date in late July of this year and I remember thinking at the time that it would be a "recent" model. Works just fine.

Thanks. Wonder of the white caps are better at rain fade here in Fl. The shade on the right LNB looks bigger. Or it might be my imagination.

I just measured the LNB's. The 101 LNB semi clear has a 1/2" larger size than the white cap LNB. And the oval white cap LNB has a 1/2" larger circumference than the semo clear.

Sorry, can't share measurements. My dish is mounted nearly 3 stories up, no way I can measure. In fact, I had to have a private installer who works on TV and radio towers do my dish as D* installers wouldn't go that high or on that steep of roof. Like I said, it works great with all satellites averaging mid to high 90's with a few 100's. Installer used an old Hughes box and a tiny TV to aim the dish.....said he dropped his good meter.....but he nailed it so whatever works.

No difference they both do the same thing, as an installer I have not seen anything that suggust one is better then the other.

Exactly, the clear ones tend to be Eagle ASpen brand, while the white are WNC, or Cal Amp, and now Andrews is making our dishes.
