Channel Changes Slowly

I am new to my HDDVR. Only had it for a week. I had the Native turned on for a while, and noticed that the channel would change very slowly. I read that the unit had to determine what resolution the channel was using, explaining the slowness. I turned the Native off, and set the resolution to 1080, and still find that channels change slowly. Am I doing something wrong? Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

How slowly? The HR20 has always been a bit sluggish changing channels in comparison to other DVRs, but most people have been relatively satisfied with the speed with native off.

Probably 3-4 seconds. Obviously not as fast as the good ole Hughes TIVO. Is the 3-4 seconds normal?

I'm using component leads with native on and three seconds seems about right when switching between a SD and HD feed. Fastest channel switching is from one OTA HD to another OTA HD, about one second.

We were watching TV in a motel room a few weeks ago and I was amazed at the instant channel changing with cable. It's been ten months since I had cable at home.

Also, if you're in the first 2-3 days the DVR is doing some housekeeping that MAY affect channel changing speed. Some people have also reported faster channel changes when connected by component.
