Am I the only one who constantly gets audio synch issues? Currently watching Good Eats on 231-1 and its about 250ms off synch. Last night we wound up watching Private Practice in SD because the audio synch issue was so bad (about 500-750ms then) Is this just tweaking or is this a matter of the hardware isnt capable of decoding the stream quickly enough?

That thread, as far as I can tell, is concerned with audio dropouts and not lip sync issues. I am also having significant lip sync issues on all HD channels. I don't know if this is a HR20 problem, a CE problem or a D* transmission problem. All I know is if I watch anything other than sports it is almost unwatchable. I have rebooted, paused, changed channels, etc. to no avail. Anyone else having this problem? Any cure?

I have the same problem but only on recorder show and I fix it by reseting the receiver.

There can be several causes of out-of-synch audio/video, including:
* Original source broadcast: This seems to be all-to-common with some network broadcasts and certain HiDef networks. There's nothing you can do about the problem if it's caused by the source, other than complain to them.
* HDMI Audio/Video interface: Some TVs and AV Receivers don't do a great job processing the audio and video simultaneously. If your out-of-synch timing is always the same, regardless of the source channel, then try using component video plus digital audio connections instead of the HDMI connection to see if that helps. Note that sometimes this problem will be different if the source channel uses DD5.1 audio instead of 2-ch PCM audio. Also, some newer TVs and AV Receivers allow you to independently set audio/video delay to compensate for this problem. Check your TV or AV Receiver owner's manual.
* Temporary DVR problem: Sometimes the DVR itself will get "confused" and the audio/video may go out-of-synch. Sometimes a simple FF/REW will clear that up. Or resetting the DVR will solve it. Or try pressing STOP to stop the recording and then press LIST to find your program and restart it. If you're watching Live TV, try changing the channels back & forth, or try rewinding slightly into the live recording buffer.

I've noticed this on some of the new channels from 103B. I rarely have a problem with the old MPEG2 signals or the local MPEG4 channels, but it happens a lot on the new MPEG4 channels from 103B. WTBS was exceptionally bad this afternoon and HBO West was way off a couple of nights ago. I can't help but think D* may need to do some tweaking, but can't rule out the problem coming from the source material. I can adjust the lip sync on my television, although it takes changing settings in the service menu which is too much trouble when its just a few channels involved.
I had reported this issue a few weeks ago, but the audio/video sync issues have gone away for me. It was really bad for a few days, but luckily they are sync'd again. I only had this issue with HD channels from D10. The older HD channels and my local HDs didn't have this problem.
