The 721 was delayed for over a year. The improvements folks are asking for arent earthshattering, they arent even new. Many were features of the DP. For that matter E missed a great opportunity not putting dual decoders in this unit, which I am sure MOST of us would of had on our wish list.

Now I think its probably easier to design such features into the box BEFORE its in production. Certinally if Scott or others were in a study these would of been pointed out BEFORE the thing was built

Why did E bring a incompplete unit that lacked so many features and missed the boat entirely on dual decoders to market?

This is a very important area for E management to ponder. From reports here the D tivo has most of these features, that we are requesting. Whyt wasnt it designed into from the start?

More importandely lets NOT have this happen again.

Bob read around here and you will answer your own questions. We have HUNDREDS of 721 users who come here every day and no one it reporting problems except for you.

I have sent you a PM and hopefully we can get this resolved for you.

I am proud to say the 721 is no Dishplayer, with the new software my 721 has been almost FLAWLESS in its operation (except for the temporary sound sync problem when you FF or unpause which will be fixed in the next release)

The 721 team is working hard to make sure the 721 does not turn into a Dishplayer fiasco and that's why they value the input from DBSTalk.COM members.

I do agree with what you said but the 721 team is making sure that new features are not breaking exisiting working features. That's why they are taking baby steps in terms of new features.

The 721 is a great product. :)

Happy Holidays!

Ditto here John and Scott.....and even more so now since I have connected my BUD thru the auxilliary inputs and now enjoy PIP from the C Band inputs. Last night, I had the backhaul for MNFB on ABC fed thru the 721, had my local ABC on the PIP and could utilize its pause, go back etc when wanted, but enjoyed the better PQ and commercial free backhaul with John and Al kibitzing between themselves and the producers. The best of all wolrlds"!!

Scott I was questioning why a product delayed over a year was designed without some oif the basic features of the previous model, when if ANYONE had asked what was needed these featurees like name based recordngs on the lets recoird this would of certinallly been there. Sorry my attitude is bad right now. Yes I got your mail:(

I think the main problem at this time with the 721 is the loss of signal issue and the sound sync problem. If there are issues beyond that then maybe the unit should be replaced even if you hae the loss of signal issue. Much more stable than dishplayer.

Does anybody know when they are going to release another software version to fix the sound sync problem?

Since we received L107 my receiver temperature has been between 107 to 109 degrees. I hooked up a DVD player to the 721 the reading now is between 116 and 120 degrees...any thoughts.

The extra heat from the DVD player maybe causing the raise in temperature. This is what I have noticed the temperature as being on the 721.

Jacob do you mean the 107 to 109 or 116 to 120 temps as being what you have seen?

I have seen up to 120 myself.
