I don't know if this has been mentioned yet but was it me or did my 501 record an advertisement for a Hockey event? I noticed it on my PTV listing the other day.

Unthinkable made a post regarding it, must have been an advertisement for the Center Ice.
I'll have to go take a look on my kids 501 and see if it's on his.

I can't believe it....and I hope it was a mistake that will not be repeated. Forcing my PVR to record commercials would definately make me switch service providers.

A DirectTivo does it as well. Switching providers may not help you.

My 508 recorded:
NHL-Patrick Roy
Date:Mon 12/23
start: 1:00 am
end: 1:30 am (it only recorded the first 4 minutes of this. I'm on the west coast too PST)
chan: HELP, 101
It says it is an exclusive DISH network interview.
Noticed it this morning while deleting things. I have timers for the Tonight Show, and the 11pm news, and ER on thursdays.
Merry Christmas

Anyone else consider this forced recording may violate computer trespass laws? My 508 has a cpu and an operating system just like any other computer. It also belongs to me and I never gave my service provider permission to write any data to my hard drive.
Would you tolerate your ISP writing unsolicited advertisements to your PC's hard drive?
Happy Holidays!
Don
I'm sure it's part of the Dish agreement, so I wouldn't pursue it. They do this every so often and it won't affect your scheduled recordings from what I understand.
Just delete it.

This is like your ISP sending you e-mail or making a telemarketing call. It isn't considered under the "Do not call" rules since you are doing business with Dish. What about when Dish or your ISP calls you and leaves a message on your answering machine, that is more annoying, but totally legal.
Why spend all this time getting upset, when you can either just delete it and go on, or switch over to D* and get a DTiVo which... (well if the 50x gets you angry the DTiVo will get you even more angry). Well time to jump to cable...
