I ordered directv a few minutes ago and they said that I will get a "standard VIP installation." Can anyone out there tell me what this includes or does not include? Does it include anything over and above "standard" installation?

If you're lucky the installer might show up on time. [sorry to all of the installers here] :)

I think it's just a marketing phrase/term they may be using.

There is DirecTV VIP service but it cost 1000's per year (IIRC, $7500) and gives you every channel, package and PPV, and up to 10 HD DVRs. I don't think that's what you're getting.

Edit:
It's called Titanium (http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=58678).

That would be the Platinum package/service and you must be "approved" for it.
I'm not sure if you need to submit a letter from your bank or your psychiatrist, to get approved.

I think it has to be charged to a black American Express card.

Maybe it means that you're getting a Dish DVR instead of DIRECTV hardware?

I know what the VIP install includes above and beyond the standard install.

But, frankly, I don't feel like sharing right now. Tired of trying to help folks here day in and day out only to get s*** on. I've had enough. So...:raspberry

In defense of installers in Missouri....

I've had a number of upgraded equipments installed over the years. My installer is never late and has gone way beyond anything I ever expected, including discovering I'd been paying lease fees for receivers I owned, cleaning a gutter and trimming a very high tree branch to help with reception. I've never had an extra charge and never had to call anyone back to fix anything. And just to be clear, I've never had the same installer twice so this can't be just one installer with great service. :hurah:

The installers and the CSR's are why I stick with DirecTV. DISH lost me many years ago with their attempt at service....:nono2:

A VIP install is usually only given to employees, friend or family referred by employees, or titanium package subscribers. Although if that is what you get then it includes wall fishing, pole mount(cable dropped and burried), non pentatrating roof mount, a few other custom types of mounts, 2 diplexers, and the standard professional installation requirements at no additional charge. Where normally the different types of mounting, pole mount, or wall fish would be a custom charge decided by the installer.
