I have two houses on my property. My son lives in one and I'd like to get him hooked up with satellite TV but don't want to get another bill for $59.95/month! Can I get a second receiver hookup in my house and then move that receiver to the second home and install a dish there?
Any difference between dish and dtv on making this work, and also should it work for both a standard definition and HD system? (I have std def'n)
If the satellite TV companies (dish and Directv -- I currently have dtv) support this type of hookup (two home on same property), then I'd appreciate hearing about that too. Thanks.

Neither Dish or DirecTV supports a single account for multiple homes. In your scenario, you would be required to have 2 accounts because you are talking about 2 separate dwellings.

Neither satellite company will permit this. They consider each household, each apartment, a separate account.

Dish Network
1. THE DISH NETWORK SERVICE
F. Additional Tuners and Receivers. We may allow you to place additional receivers on your account in our sole discretion. Each additional receiver will be authorized to receive the same Services as your initial receiver. This option is only available if your initial DISH Network receiver and all additional receiver(s) are located at the same residence and are continuously connected to your same land-based telephone line. Unless otherwise specified in the customer agreement(s), if any, applicable to the promotion(s) pursuant to which you are receiving Services and/or Equipment, DISH Network will charge you a monthly additional outlet programming access fee (“Additional Outlet Programming Access Fee”) for each tuner activated on your account beyond the first. If you desire to receive Services at two different residential locations, you must open a separate account for each location. You agree that you will not directly or indirectly use a single account for the purpose of authorizing Services for multiple DISH Network receivers that are not all located in the same residence and connected to your same land-based telephone line. If we later determine that you did, we may disconnect your Services and, in addition to all other applicable fees, you agree to pay us the difference between the amounts actually received by us and the full retail price for the Services authorized for each DISH Network receiver on your account.
9. GENERAL
A. Physical Address/Change of Address . When setting up your DISH Network account, you agree to provide us with the physical street address where your Equipment will be located and your Services will be provided. A post office box does not constitute a physical address and is not sufficient to meet this requirement. You agree to give us prompt notice of your change of name, mailing address, physical address where your Equipment is located, and telephone number. You may do this by notifying our Customer Service Center by telephone or in writing at the phone number or mailing or e-mail address set forth in the first paragraph of this Agreement.

DirecTV
1. OUR SERVICE
(f) Phone Connections. For optimal performance of your Receiving Equipment, including ordering with your remote control or receiving certain Services, each of your receivers must be directly connected to the same land-based telephone line. If you add Service on additional TVs, you may purchase a separate subscription for each additional TV, or, if all your receivers are continuously connected to the same land-based telephone line, we can "mirror" programming to your additional TVs and charge you only the fee amount described in Section 2. You agree to provide true and accurate information about the location of your receivers. If we detect that any receiver is not regularly connected to a land-based telephone line, we may investigate and, if it is determined that the receiver is not at the location identified on your account, we may disconnect the receiver or charge you the full programming subscription price for the receiver.
(g) Mobile Units. We provide Service to Receiving Equipment installed in mobile units such as campers, boats and other recreational vehicles. However, this Receiving Equipment is not eligible for the additional TV authorization discount described in 1(f).
(m) Change of Address. You must notify us immediately of any change in your name, mailing address, residence address or telephone number.
2. PAYMENT
(c) Administrative Fees. . . .
(3) Additional TV Authorization Fee: If you meet the qualifications described in Section 1(f), we may charge you a monthly fee of up to $4.99 for separate Services on each additional TV, rather than a full subscription fee for Services on each additional TV. This reduced rate is available only if all receivers are located at your residence.
