View Full Version : B-Band Converter (BBC)
I've been reading up on HD and plan to make the switch after the first of the new year. Hopefully then they will have my locals in HD. One think that puzzles me is the B-Band Converter (BBC). I think I understand why, but shouldn't the receiver itself be able to make the conversion. How long will we have to use a B-Band Converter (BBC)? It just seems like the technology is lagging..?
The bbc will not be required with the SWM(single wire multiswitch), but until that national release the bbc is there. I imagine they may build it into the receiver eventually but since it is in the SWM maybe not.

SWM do the b-band conversion themselves and a b-band converter is not required with them, but people with older mulitswitches will need the b-band converters. Most likely someday they anticipate that most installs will be with a SWM and it more cost effective just to leave the bbc's seperate from the box to reduce cost.
