View Full Version : NASCAR Racing - Series Link Problem
I've had several missed recordings over the past several weeks with the "This episode was canceled because another matching program was scheduled to record.(10/0/)" error
This series link is setup on my local OTA ABC channel (12-1), It's set to record both, 3 Episodes, keep until Disk Full, Start on time, Stop 3 hours later.
Tomorrows episode is not marked with RR in the guide, it's not listed in the To Do list.
I can specifically tell it to record this program, ie not using a series link, and it will mark it to record and it shows up in the To Do list, however, any method of setting up a series link doesn't work?
In the prioritizer it listed None Scheduled for the Series Link.
Is anyone else having this problem? is it a guide data problem? HR20 problem? any ideas?
Update: Deleted Series Links for "NASCAR Racing" on ESPN2 and Speed, the Series Link for "NASCAR Racing" on ABC started working, resetup Series Links on ESPN and Speed, they appear to be working as well, however, they do only list 1 Episode, if you view the upcoming episodes from the prioritizer, it shows 2 or more, however only the first one is schedule to record.
Update2: After letting the HR20 do it's thing for a few minutes, the series link for the race on ABC is now back to "None Scheduled", the series link for ESPN now has 2 episodes marked to record, one being the Monday rebroadcast of tomorrows race now not scheduled to record on the ABC series link.

I don't know why there is a problem. Perhaps because of the Happy Hour and qualification broadcasts, and multiple channels they broadcast on. Because of that, I have never relied on an SL for any of the NASCAR (Busch or Cup) races. I always manually set up the recordings with a 3 hour pad (which isn't always enough with rain delays.) I usually do this right after watching the current race.
Even with the padding, ESPN2HD and ABC have thrown the telecast to another ESPN channel when the race runs too long. I wish there was a way to know where the broadcast will go if a race runs long. Then I could record that channel from the original ending time.
Update 3: Deleted all NASCAR Racing season passes again, resetup ABC alone, let it sit for a while and all was good, resetup the ESPN2 series and again let it sit, and after some time it removed the ABC broadcast on Sunday and has scheduled the Monday rebroadcast on ESPN2.
Guess I will have to go to manual recording, however, with no conflicting shows it should record the earliest broadcast and not the later one.

Do you have any other shows scheduled to record in that time frame? it may be trying to resolve conflicts..
I always get the opposite problem, The guide data is so short that it records everything..
also you might try moving it to the top of the prioritizer..

There is currently only one show scheduled to record on Sunday, and it's in a different time slot.
Edited to add that it begins and ends before the Race is scheduled to start.
I have the exact same problem with the series link for the NASCAR race on Sundays. I logged on here hoping someone had the same problem and found a solution. The only solution I have found is the same one as you, that is, set the races up to record individually. Another odd thing is I have a series recording for "Count Down to Green" and that one records just fine every week.

I have season passes setup on my HR21 and one of my HR20-700's to catch "NASCAR Racing" on FOX, TNT, ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC and never miss a race. In fact it also records qualifying and practice on all the networks as well.
How do you guys have them setup? What options? And where are they on your prioritizer?
Oh, and it's not "Countdown To Green" right now it's "NASCAR Countdown".

This is the reason I set up individual manual recordings. I only want the Busch and Cup races, along with the countdowns. It's easier to just do the manual recordings and not worry about something getting cancelled if practices or qualifying gets recorded.

Considering that practices and qualifying happen at a time that I wouldn't be recording anything else it doesn't bother me. I just delete the recording when I get home. Not a big deal. Certainly not enough of a big deal to go thru the hassle of setting up manual recordings.

Do you have separate season passes for every network vs. having a Keyword auto-recored for "Nascar Racing"?
I have been trying this all week on my HR21. I am seeing the same issues as the OP. I tried setting up Keyword Auto-Record for "Nascar Racing Sprint Cup" and even just "Nascar Racing" thinking like my TiVo that it would cover all the different channels then. Some of the episodes for "Nascar Racing" are recording though it only seems to show a few future ones as set to recored vs everything that shows up in the "Episodes" list. On the "Nascar Racing Sprint Cup" I still show "None Available" as the OP even after 3 days now.

I've been trying for the last week to figure out how to get the season pass to work for "Nascar Racing", but to no avail. Runner can you explain how you set up your SL for "Nascar Racing". I tried doing a keyword on "Nascar Racing" and used the "HiDef" category to pick up SpeedHD, Espn2HD, and FOX. All the episodes show up in the list, but they do not show up in the ToDo list and are not marked to be recorded in the Episode list. I've waited three hours, 12 hours, but they never show up in the ToDo list. I usually have to go to the episode list and manually record everything. At least my Season Pass (SL or autorecord) is good to list all the episodes, even if I have to manually record the shows...ha ha..

Here is what I do...
1. Do a keyword search for "NASCAR Racing".
2. Once it is found the results will be listed in a folder.
3. Select which network I want my SL to be for and choose the first episode in the list for that network [Fox, Speed, ESPN, etc]
4. With the episode's description showing I choose "record series".
5. Done
I have one SL for each network.
