View Full Version : Audio Swap Feature A Must!
I did a search to see if anyone else had ever asked about such a feature and could only find one post. I would use this feature all the time if it were available. There are plenty of times when I'd like to keep the video arrangement as is when using PIP and then swap the audio only. I would also love to be able to have this feature even when not using the PIP, for example to have a sporting event on the video and a music channel on the audio. It would also be great to channel surf with background music/ audio from the other tuner. Time to take full advantage of having 2 tuners!
Although I suppose the best way to have this feature would require a new button on the remote unfortunately. Am I completely alone or off-base wanting this feature?

"The customer is ALWAYS right... ... .. ..about what they want"
That would be a neat feature. I would use it too.

Just hit the PIP button a few times. One of them is called "side by side" Just get the 2 channels you want in the side by side windows, and just push the swap button to change the audio. Its that simple.

Well I am not sure if I would find this feature useful and my gut tells me it would take up two tuners to achieve it and that could be a heavy cost.
One way you could achieve this would be to place the 622 in dual mode and use the audio from TV2 to feed the AV receiver. Yeah it would not be as convenient as a button , but it would achieve the same thing I believe. As for the the remote, for me I think the two features the remote needs is a CC toggle and output resolution based on posts I have read here.
Interesting feature.. Just one I don't see me using a lot and for me there are other features I would like to see the team work on...

Great idea, and I would love this feature as well. There are times when I'm watching a couple of sporting events, and there are many times I just want to quickly hear what they are saying on the smaller PIP window but I really don't want to move it to the bigger window to get it. Not sure how they would program that in since it would need a different button but good idea.

Yeah I do that sometimes, but the whole point of audio swap for me would be having the ability to keep full screen video of either tuner, independent of the audio.

Yes, as I thought about it more I realized that the only practical way of implementing this would be a new button on the remote. Darn. I guess there's no existing button that could "double" for this purpose is there?
I've got it! The "Select" button can be used for audio swap while in PIP mode.

Are you sure about that? Does that work on your system?

My guess is himini is talking about the same thing as doing a PIP swap which of course is not what people here are looking for. IF not himini.. can you expand on what you are meaning? If you did side by side and pip swap you kinda of get what the person is wanting but at a cost of picture size. I would not consider the same thing.
The idea would just be to not lose the picture size as mentioned, which might be cool. Like when I wanna watch a football game but listen to a music channel, I don't want the big PIP window to be wasted with the music info; I want the HD football game back there! And no PIP at all (once audio swap is achieved) would be best.
I think it would be great, but I guess you gotta consider the confusion of people who didn't know about this secret button feature wondering why their audio didn't match (and the resulting increase in customer service calls). But how about just having the feature turned off by default? Enabled through the menu somewhere? Just thinking out loud here. What do you guys think?

I don't see many finding this useful or needed. It also may be illegal or a copyright infringement for Dish to implement the way you describe.

Copyright infringement? Illegal? What on earth?
