HR20 or 21

I am considering a switch from E* back to D* and was wondering if I should be concerned about whether they send me a 20 or a 21. I can't receive OTA in my area. The CSR told me she can't guarantee which DVR they would send. Also, are there any promos for returning customers I should be aware of? Thanks for any help/advice.:)

Since you can't receive OTA channels than no it does not matter.

The units right now are on different software but the will have the same at some point with all the same features.

Just minor. The main one is the passthru port for an ethernet connection. Other than that no. Since you don't have OTA you will be very happy with the HR21 if that is what you get.

The HR20 may be more thoroughly debugged by now, but the HR21 may have more capability in the long run as it uses newer chips. If OTA isn't an issue, well, the HR21 IS black.

I was in the same boat when I had my install last Friday. I had pretty much decided that I didn't care, but would prefer an HR20-700 or HR21. OTA is a non-issue for me. I ended up with the HR21, which looks really nice.

The only down-side for me is that I can't get on-demand now, but that will likely change soon.

Coming from an HR-10, I'm very happy with my HR2x so far. I'm still scratching my head about the big debate with the HR10 vs HR2x.

The HR21 has been much less buggy for me. I don't have OTA access where I live anyway. Mainly, if you use media share, it works all the time on the 21 with no problems whatsoever, yet at the very same connection, the HR20 burps, quits songs, and has to be reset once every 3-5 days to get media share working again (software irrelevant, as this issue has been with the HR20 since media sharing began). I should note that I am using the ViiV PC that it was designed for.
