I now see there are two HD dishes. I have the older "piggyback" model, should I get the new slimline dish? Is there a difference?

So you mean the "sidecar" [AT9]?
It is now obsolete, but mine is working just fine.
The Slimline [AU9] doesn't do anything that the AT-9 won't.
If you dish is working, then there is no need to change it.
If it fails, then it will be replaced with the AU-9.

I suspect the Slimline may be slightly less expensive to build and maintain. The LNB assemblies are interchangeable, wheras those on the AT-9 have to be matched to the dish manufacturer. There probably isn't a noticeable difference in performance.

Folks here who've compared the two dishes side-by-side have reported very little performance difference.

Having installed both, I felt that the slimline is a better designed dish and easier to align. Performance wise, I didn't notice any difference.

Thanks for the info. It does drive me crazy not to have the newest stuff though.
