View Full Version : Disassembly of DTV white remotes
I have a lighted white remote setup with code one in DTV position, code 3 in AV2, and my Onkyo Receiver in AV1. This works fine (remember when you put a receiver in, you not only get audio volume, etc, but, you get the full gamut of number inputs such as 1=Video 1, 4= DVD, 9=Video 2 etc.)
I can't get the remote apart after removing the 4 visible screws. I wish to re-engineer or replace the tiny slide switch with something functional. I love the buttons, text and lighting, but, the slide switch is not really meant for routine use.
Has anyone had one apart ?
There are only two visible screws in the battery compartment. There are 4 other screws under the grey bezel surrounding cursor & transport keys on the front. Then you pry it apart slightly to allow insertion of an edge of a old credit card, once the card is between the halves, slide popping the catches.

Haha..take it easy there.
Make sure to take some pictures...I'd love to see it broken in half.. :)
EDIT: And that was my 200th post!! :)
I will attack my good lighted one last. I have about 5 of them. It would beat any MX- or Harmony if I succeed. Bright light, big text, big buttons, proper buttons.
By the way, HR20-100 & HR20-700 running just fine.

It may serve a purpose, but it couldn't compare or beat any true programmable remote like the MX900...How do you intend to program sophisticated macros?
He might not need sophisticated macros. I tried that but three Harmonys couldn't handle the macros I need properly so I just do it manually.

my Harmony 880 handles 6 macros. I have had an mx-1000 it was more veristile, but was way more time consumeing to set up. for my needs the 880 is great. I don't think the remote that came the HR20 would work for me.
I too would like pics of it split in two out of curiosity.
Don't forget to get pics after the mod.
