I Was walking down the street & I Noticed that one more house Just Got Dish Network I Guess the People on that Block Have Had a Good Experience With Dish
I Heard you cant get out of the contract with dish & that the People On the phone are Rude is that True ???
Digital Cable sub from 1999-2002
Directv Sub 2002 :)
Depending on the promotion you might have a 1 year contract. According to J. D.Powers DISH was second to Directv in customer service. If you are a new Directv sub you also had to sign up for a one year contract, Directv's contract is probably just as binding as DISH's.

I know with DirecTV you have to pay $$ if you break the one year contract. I'd assume with Dish it's the same.
You don't have to deal with rude people on the phone.
Visit the showroom of a local full-service specialty retailer. You'll get much better info & service.

It's just a blow off your steam site (if its even real), I've skimmed it over, in the situations that I've read a lot of things just started out as misunderstandings that could stop there if some of these people were levelheaded and had common sense.
No matter what company your talking about, Dish, AOL whatever, if they provide phone tech support, you are always going to have the ones that are rude, misinformed and so on. Fact of life. But then again you always here more about the negative experiences the the positives anyhow.
E* has never done anything to me, I have no complains. Yeah our brand new SW64 died after 3 weeks, things happen, it's an electric gadget, gadgets fail. When the guy came to replace it last week he missed the appointment, so yet another week with out tv, am I mad, no things happen, problems occur. In this case the guy got injured at his previous call and all of his days appointments had to be canceled. A different guy came yesterday and realigned this dish, replaced the SW64 with a twin and 2 SW21s, I'm very satisfied. But somehow the negative comments are usually paid more attention then the positive.
The only contracts I'm aware of with Dish, is if you want reduced or free hardware. If you just go to Sears or Ebay or somewhere and piece together what you want and subscribe, there is no contract to worry about.
E* and D* are about even, each offer comparable services and each have one or two of those idiotic BS JD Powers Awards under their belts.

I have found that if you just hang up on the rude CSR and call back, you can get a good one. If one is rude and you are not getting anywhere, then do not waste your time, just hang up and get a better one.
Jacob,
You always give us good advise. This also works with the CSR's that just don't know what they are talking about too!
I'll say this. I have had less trouble and found MORE nice and helpful people in my 4 years of dealings with DishNetwork than I did in my time with Cablevision and all the other cable companies I had before that.
Not sure what the point is. If you are a relatively new D* customer (2002) and had digital cable before that, you must have changed for a reason. Now you are noticing more E* dishes on your block. Are you having buyers remorse for choosing D*? All of these systems have their problems. I am sure you could get a laundry list for each of them on items that need to get fixed. If you are looking to change to E* from D* then you may want to look closely at why you are changing. I don't perceive the problems of one to be significantly different from the other.
