View Full Version : Search problem
Yesterday when I was checking the guide on my HR20-100 I noticed a movie in progress on Starz that I wanted to watch. So, I pressed info and showings to find the next time the movie is playing. The search found several showings on east and west but all were on SD channels. Starz plays the same movie on SD and HD so the search should display showing in HD too.

It probably just searched for the episodes on that channel. Do a search from the menu.
I know it is annoying. I am not sure why it doesn't show all the episodes on all the channels, but that is the way it works.

Search found the movie on multiple channels but they were all in SD. The only one that was in HD was already playing.
Any one else can confirm this as problem?

Can't say that I've had this exact problem, but have noticed it. I flipped on the TV and saw 'Nightmare Before Christmas' was on in High-Def. Looked great and I wanted to see another showing in HD so I could record it, only displayed upcoming shows in SD.
I have no way to confirm if in fact only SD was upcoming, but the experience was the same.
Just checked and there's no way to search the guide listings at directv.com so I don't know how you could confirm HD listings were dropped. When the only way to search is with my HR20.

Yes, it does that, and yes it's a problem. Search will only bring up the SD version if the result is on a channel that is both SD and HD. Probably stops the search on that time and channel when it finds a match. The same thing happens if you select Showings for a movie from the todo list. Episodes works fine. I have no idea whether or not this has been reported to DirecTV.

I think we need a little patience with this problem. I do searches off the menu all the time and it comes up and lists the HD programs. I even recorded some Starz movies that didn't have the HD designation and they were in HD. Give them a few weeks to sort out everything.

Confirmed.......sort of.
I may have a work around. This worked for "The Illusionist" on Starz HD:
I looked for other "showings", like you said it showed only the SD versions.
I then selected one of the SD showing on Starz west and selected "showings" and the HD version on Starz west showed up.

This is a probelm with many (if not all) of the new MPEG4 HD channels. I have had this problem on USAHD and MGMHD. Shows are in the guide, but they do not show up in search. Also, they do not seem to show up when searching on Remote Booking either, so this seems like a bigger problem.
