OK -- here is my situation. August, 2006 -- had MASTEC installer out to install new service at my townhome in a covenant restricted development. South side faces the street and is only access (too little depth behind and to the east for pole mount -- home on west side). Got HOA permission for a 3LNB directly on the brick, facing south. Installer would only mount the old 5LNB on a pole, so that was out (don't want a pole in front of the house ). Live in an area (Norfolk) with no HD L-I-L, so got dish mounted OTA (works great ). Three cable runs, two to the master box in the hall closet (outside wall), one through the garage wall into the kitchen. Master box feeds one HD box via single coax (diplexed OTA) and one SD. (Ultimately, once we get HD L-I-L here, I could take the OTA out, but not an option for now)
Now, I want to add a second HD box via a wall fish through the attic. At the same time I want to get the new Slimline to get the new HD channels.
Here are my issues:
1. How do I still get the diplexed OTA to the two HD boxes? One, fed by the single coax from the master box is on a inside wall and another run is out of the question. SWM? The new HD box can probably get dual coax via the new wall fish (yes, I know I will have to pay for that), and is where I will probably put the HD DVR that I intend to get. That will give me five coax out from the mux. How do I feed the OTA to the DVR once I get the dual coax run?
2. Will I get any grief from the MASTEC installer (that is who has the contract here with D*) about the Slimline into the brick wall? Will they come with the tapcons, or do I need to go to Home Depot and have them when he gets here? If I do that, will they install it? Do I need to get sway braces? This is a south facing wall, and is well protected on two (W & N) sides from wind. Have had no issues with the 3LNB over the last year.
Any and all advice will be appreciated. Won't call D* to schedule until the assembled wisdom here weighs in.
Thanks in advance
